I have just been reading the one about Brenda Lee "Several inches short of
5 ft tall"
My late wife was that sort of height, 5' 101/4 " tall to be precise.
Her other measurements were 32A, 19" waist and 35" hip. Her size was a
size 10, not all that unusual. Some people may remember the song "Five
foot twom eyes of blue etc" so there were even shorter girls tha her,
Men averaged 5' 7" - 5'9".
For those who looked at suits of armor they were also very short by modern
standards and they were the rich, well fed ones,
More recently, Adolf Hitler was 5'7" tall and 11 Stones (154 Lbs US)
What I dont understand is the constant references to "size 0" I have seen
pics of "size 10" on TV and they are around 1 foot taller than she was - a
bit of a mystery..
During WWII and up to 1954 people in towns were very poorly fed due to
rationing. We got a rapid height increase in the 1960s when rationing had
ended, giving a rapid growth.
