Good point, less concurrent power drains that way.

Again, less concurrent power drain.

One thing you really need to ask yourself (not you specifically)
is how many nodes do I really -need- to have? What we've said
within EastNet is more than a single screen full is not
wanted. We've also discovered that many ghosted paths caused
by INP3 gives the network integrity to a user a false perception
that "it doesn't work so don't use this mode".

NetRom was designed to be a dynamic type of routing system for
packet since ax.25 had no true routing at that time (until
flexnet came along). The issue is with sysops not knowing the
differences between minobs or maxqual. Broadcasting nodes
every 15 minutes is fine IF you're not flooding out the 700+
nodes I see on what I call the INP3 cloud in your obs
broadcasts. This keeps the obs counts fresh at your direct
neighbor. When you hit the minobs at your neighbor's node
then his system should drop you off his list, similar to minqual
but so many sysops hijack qualities, or they're hijacked by
INP3 that the integrity of the network gets burried.
