Over the past several years I worked on and off on a little project of mine
an emulator for a tnc. This is a hardware emulator based on a z80 emulator
that I modified to also emulate the hardware of a tnc. This was a learning
experiment but it turned out to be an interesting tool. The emulator
emulates an Heathkit HK-21 Pocket Packet on a linux machine and the normal
modem i/o has been emulated to speak ax25 over a network socket. There are
plans in the future to add kiss protocol and or have it talk to a sound
modem so that it could connect to an rf channel and send ax25 over the
air. It's all experimental but wanted to share it with everyone once
I got permission form Howard Goldsein the author of the z80 firmware
to release the rom image in the archive.
