Again I'm reminded of how badly highway engineers want to reduce traffic
congestion by killing us. If you think L.A. freeway interchanges are bad try
driving in Japan on the worst plate of spaghetti in the world. We have our
very own Slaughter Alley as we call Rte. 22 between Union and Greenbrook in
northern New Jersey where they come at you from every which way and always
unexpectedly, I call them blind rabbits. One moment's thought and you know
why. It consists of 3 lanes each direction with center islands dotted with
businesses that also line the highway attracting... you guessed it, blind
rabbits. To make it worse entrance/exit roads are perfectly aligned with cuts
between the islands so they come at you from both sides and if you think the
center lane is safe guess again, they dart straight across looking to get T
boned. Traffic is heavy of course, you risk life and limb if you dare go
shopping there or just drive through... Slaughter Alley.
