By first, the simplified licensing system makes that behavior to be exist.
Too many simplification making irreversible changes, hi.
So on that point maybe new Serbia's license rules have a goal!

RR its just minimal automated QSO-mode, to make simpler DX contacts for DXCC etc.

Last time I've heard Clover signal maybe 3-5 years ago. GTOR even later.
That proprietary/branded modes was never popular, at least in EU.
Pactor and before, in begin of 90's Amtor and Packet was much popular.

There are few new modes for data transfer, look for VARA modem and ARDOP/WINMOR
its all not need boxed TNC, just soundcard interface and PC software.
We just need more peoples to be interested in that.
Its hard to do when all have Internet everywhere...
