The Volvo is still getting serviced...I
hope I get it back before much colder
temperatures get here by the end of the
week. We're supposed to get rain and
possible thunderstorms. The amount of
winter weather is still in question.
We'll see what the groundhogs say Tuesday
(you have Phil in Pennsylvania, and
General Beauregard Lee in Georgia, among
others). I'm not sure if the Punxatawney,
PA ham radio club will do a special event
station on HF or not, due to COVID-19
restrictions.
I'm taking Uber back and forth to the
chiropractic treatments during the week
for now...and likely will continue the
treatment through February. But, if it's
supposed to snow or ice, I'm staying home
that day. I may have to get groceries,
etc. delivered by early next week if I
don't get the car back soon. I won't
hear from Geico until after the treatments
are done, but can submit the Uber costs as
part of my claim. If they give me a nice
amount, I may take the money and run.
I'm hoping I don't have to pay taxes on
the insurance money released a year after
my Mom's death (she died in August, 2019),
or the COVID-19 stimulus. So, any big
expenses are having to wait. I hope they
extend the time to file, due to COVID-19.
I paid $9950 for my Volvo 2 door hardtop
convertible, but had to pay $730 in state
sales tax to get the new title and car
tags...but it'll be April before I get
the new title from the state. At least
I can pay the personal property tax and
the new car tag fees online, and have
stuff mailed to me...where I don't have
to stand in line at the Revenue Office.
I doubt I'll be traveling outside of
central Arkansas anymore, as it's too
hard on me physically; never mind the
Postal Service seemingly IGNORES all
requests to "hold mail". And, they
wonder why folks are going to email,
FedEx, DHL, UPS, etc. for shipping,
correspondence, etc.
I updated the Excel spreadsheets of
selected D-Star, D-Rats, and Echolink
Nets, and some PDF files, as there were
some changes; go to my QRZ bio, and click
on the hyperlink to get those files. If
you see me up on D-Rats, you can get those
files there.
It may be September or later before I can
get my COVID-19 shots...although the
Chinese have a new method of checking for
COVID-19...anal swabs (bleah!). It's as if
the whole mess wasn't demeaning enough
(sigh!). I'm hoping to get a full physical
and an eye exam in March, and a colonoscopy
in April.
We may see a major winter storm here Monday
night and Tuesday of next week, but it's
too early to know for sure right now.
I will advise if weather is going to have me
QRT next week. The Warnings Coordination
Meteorologist at NWS Little Rock put out an
extensive discussion today, noting "it's too
early to tell"...yet with all the model data
out there, the wishcasters are going bonkers
right now. I guess the supply of bread, milk,
beer, and toilet paper, will be gone when I
get to the store (hi hi). I'll know more next
Monday morning.
The light net will allow me to prep the scribe
before another net this evening. Everyone have

Daryl, the big storm went around us and landed
on the coast. That's fine by me!!
Speaking of taxes - I got my last W2 today.
I think I'm ready to file. We'll see how it
goes.
No idea when I'll be getting a shot - I did get
an email from my dr. telling they were calling
us old folks in random order. It'll be my luck
I'll be the last guy they call!!
Hopefully, your wx guessers are just "hoping"
for a "cool" storm, but it doesn't show up.
That's the way it works here most of the time.

GE all, and welcome to Todd tonight!
Doing well here. Did my first winter field day
and it was fun. Like most, I was a single from
home. Made 72 contacts, most on 40m, some on 20
and 1 on 15. Most were psk31, but maybe 30% were
JS8Call. I picked up JS8Call last week and got
just capable enough to try it at WFD. Nice
package and much improved over a couple of years
ago.
It requires and different mindset and workflow
than psk31, and there was a high percentage of
people trying it for the first time during WFD.
Maybe next year it will be better utilized.
