WX4QZ:

A late season frost and freeze is forecast Wednesday
morning...the farmers and gardeners are furious. More
storms are forecast Thursday night into Saturday, as
we head for the heart of tornado season. Some long
range models are showing severe weather toward the
end of the month. With the weather changes, my
migraine sinus headaches are becoming more frequent,
which makes it hard to be at the computer for long
periods of time...and that's for either work on the
BBS, or running ham radio traffic nets. We need the
rain, as there's moderate fire danger in some areas.

I called a contractor to rebuild the bathrooms, and
they'll do a site visit in the morning. Right now,
I have one working toilet, and the kitchen sink to
wash my hands with...but stuff is in the shower area.
At least the insurance will cover all but $1000, and
that's set aside, thanks to the COVID-19 stimulus.
I have no idea how long the work will take, but I
hope I don't have to go stay in a hotel for a time,
or that will mess up my nets and other things. I
likely will get new sinks, cabinets, floors, and
toilets.

I'll be switching to T-Mobile 5G home internet soon,
as it's available in my area for $35 a month cheaper
than what Xfinity wants...that'll save me $420 a year...
the equipment arrives Tuesday. I got some nice square
dance shirts, and a couple of portable battery operated
fans you wear around your neck to keep cool...they run
on batteries. I can also set them on the nightstand at
night, if I need some air circulating, if power is out.

I'm doing work on the computer bulletin board system,
which turns 29 on May 1. It's one of the last BBS's in
Arkansas. I don't know if I can restore dial-up access,
as the modems were originally designed for analog lines;
but I can't see paying per month what the phone company
wants. Ham Radio and Weather are the main themes, with
G/PG content. One can access it via telnet or web...email
me for details (my email is good on QRZ).

I get my second Pfizer COVID-19 shot on Friday; I hope
there aren't any bad reactions. It may end up being
every few months or years. I have my own feelings on
this, but that's for another place. I'm still working on
restarting license exam sessions in the local area, even
with COVID-19 restrictions. Several medical procedures
are on hold until I'm cleared from the 2nd COVID-19 shot.

The title finally arrived for the Volvo after 11 weeks,
so I took that to the dealership. I hope I don't have
to do work on my Chevy Cruze for a good while. I'm paying
nearly $3 a gallon for mid-grade fuel in central Arkansas.
If one wants it in 10 days, they have to go to a building
just west of the actual capitol complex in Little Rock,
and pay an extra fee. I think they only have one person
doing the work for the entire state (75 counties).

Rick, I copy and paste stuff into iptelnet from Windows
Notepad. That way, I don't forget stuff to talk about.

If you and Arlene lived next to Scott and Jackie, I'll
bet you'd have one heck of a vegetable garden!!

VA7RBP:

It been an uneventful couple of weeks.

Arlene and I got our COVID jab number one last week.

No side effects, other than a sore arm the next day, and
so far nothing else, we had the Pfizer vaccine.

Other than that, just been working on the vegetable garden,
getting it ready for planting.

Weather the past week has been great, days start out a
little chilly around 35F but quickly gets up to around 70F.

We still have everything locked down, Haven't been for
coffee with the guys for the past three weeks. I suspect
the lockdown will continue, as the infection rates are
climbing again.

It's going to take me a while to digest all your high
speed entries....

Jackie probably has a huge garden too! Ours consists of
two 8 ft x 2 foot planters.
