Does the above add to any mail message? I really don't think so. This can be
mooted by shutting OFF smtptoo and would save lines of text from being sent
out.

NNTP was one of the earlier protocols used for mail forwarding between stations
for many many years - HOWEVER - it was never EVER used as a tool to import
mail from the internet, especially profanity, and put thousands of licenses
in jeopardy. I believe that's where a lot of the confusion is coming from.

Because of your above statement is all the more reason why a developer needs
to take extra precautionary measures to fool-proof software so accidental
usage with such high ramifications to a global network is not done. Prior to
this occuring I did infact privately inform the author of JNOS about possible
issues with NNTP and it was simply "noted". I don't think any LICENSED HAM
who's ruling administration will say "Ok N2NOV passed mails in regards to
illegal drug selling around the globe because someone who's experimenting
with NNTP relayed it to him". When a pub sells a patron an excess of alcohol
and that patron hits and possibly kills another driver the establishment who
sold that "1 more drink" in many places is also liable.

You totally contradicted yourself. Who's to be left holding the bag for this
then? I know the specific answer as I queried our ASM on this.
