One thing the TODAY bull failed to mention about the 1811-1812 earthquake and
long period of aftershocks was an unusual phenomenon known as sand geysers.
They were caused by gas pockets in the sandy layer under the soil of the
region. They continued throughout the aftershock period and being widespread
needless to say there were plenty of them. All things considered you may find
more complete and very interesting information on line. For the forgetful I
encounter from time to time, Google is your friend.
