WX4QZ:

GE to all...and Happy November. Turkeys are thankful
for one thing this time of year...vegetarians (hi hi).
Just a note that with the holidays coming up, The
PCL Net won't meet on the Mondays of Nov. 22 for
Thanksgiving Week...Dec. 20 for Christmas Week, and
Dec. 27 for New Years Week.

I upgraded to Windows 11 on the laptop computer
that I use for my ham radio applications. The one
thing I don't like about it, as that you can no
longer view desktop folders from the taskbar. So,
I pinned the programs I use the most to the taskbar
to get around that. The desktop will stay with
Windows 10, as I have too much on there that won't
run under 64-bit.

I got the COVID-19 booster shot last Thursday, on
advice from a telemedicine conference. I had the
sore left arm, and was hurting for the colder
weather...so, I crashed out last Thursday.

I'm still supposed to have Yag Laser Surgery on my
right eye later this month, but finances may delay
it. Either way, no driving after dark for me. If
the surgery goes awry, then it's no driving, period;
and I'll have to sell the car. I can get groceries
and medications delivered, and take Uber to the Post
Office and doctors appointments, and get transport
to license exam sessions. But, otherwise, I'll be
stuck at home, with the loss of independence.

I doubt my exam team will test again until spring,
with the holidays, hunting season, and winter now
coming on. Rainy and colder is our forecast the next
several days...with a frost and freeze likely over
much of the region by late week. At least we're not
in parts of Alaska, that are expecting 12 feet of
snow in 2 days!!

I got the new debit card 2 weeks earlier than
expected, so I'm trying to get all my bills
updated. I hate it when working through deals
in different time zones. Speaking of which, the
time change to Standard Time is this coming
Sunday, Nov. 7, at 2am local time. The time for
this net, and most others, won't change...but,
if you fail to fall back, you'll be an hour early
for church, work, or ham radio nets.

Lots of contesting this time of year...although I
have no interest in it. With a solar storm also in
the picture, the bands will be awfully noisy to be
sure.

Bob (NY), there was a report where someone tampered
with putting a needle in some candy. Thankfully,
they discovered it before someone got hurt. It's a
shame you have to watch out for stuff like that.

Rick, in another hobby I have (square dancing), this
couple is the treasurer, but she does the work, as
she's a CPA. She referred to herself as "the treasure
her"...I guess we know who handles the money in that
family (hi hi). Also, Wix has a deal to build your
own websites. My HTML knowledge is very basic.

Several others complained about the contesters
clogging up the frequencies.

Freezing Fog is so dangerous, and it has been an
issue here during winters...folks down here don't
know how to drive on snow or ice, no matter how
small the amount.

Bob (OK), FB on the adoptions. I think the only
hamfest in Arkansas this past year was at Mena.
And, great minds think alike...I thought the same
thing on the Milky Way (hi hi).

Scott, sounds like you had "the rustic life".
Some parts of central Arkansas are so rural,
that you have to work simplex...no cellphone,
phone, internet, or repeaters.

Charley, we'll have temperatures in the 40s here
on Wednesday with a cold rain. While the cold
makes the arthritis hurt more, it means no heat
illness, no insects, and no tornadoes.

Paul, KC5ALH, in Big Spring, Texas, does a big
light display setup for the holidays, and he had
750 pounds of candy to give out. That'd give me
a sugar rush or pimple proliferation (hi hi). But,
it's a safe place for the kids to go.

On the Trains Net, it's every Friday at 7pm Time
on the QuadNet Array. We do railroad trivia, and
first time checkins can get a commemorative
certificate.

Jeff, welcome to the net, and thank you for your
service. Feel free to make it when your schedule
permits.

NS2B:

GE All. An uneventful week here.

Was supposed to work Pumpkin Patrol over the weekend
but ended up having to do work work - I listened to
their net - they had some interference prangsters
both nights at around 9PM - and I guess one bridge
had some excitement last night - I don't know the
details on that yet.

Other than not much else going on here.

I'm looking forward to the holidays - planning on
being in Missouri for Thanksgiving.

Hope you eye surgery goes well Daryl.

Charlie - planning on making it down your
way while I'm there - we'll work out details
as time gets closer.

Scott - I haven't seen the Milky Way in 30
years! Too much light pollution here.

Bob - my GFs youngest boy is adopted from Korea.

Jeff - welcome to the net.

That's it - everyone have a good week! Thanks
for doing the net Daryl. 73 >>>

VA7RBP:

Good Evening Daryl and all on the net. It was a
fairly busy week for me.

I am club Treasurer, and we had our AGM this past
Saturday. I spent the week gathering all the bits
and pieces required for my financial report in PDF
format for display during the ZOOM meeting,
practicing on my wife. It all went smooth, and
I'm still Treasurer...

As noted, the bands have been full of contests,
and other QRM, making it difficult to do the
usual nets etc. or having the QRM start right
on-top-of us.

I've been playing with VaraCT (VARA CHAT
variation) mostly on 14.105 USB, and Robust
Packet on 18.1065 USB, just having fun.

I'm not a contester as you may have noticed.

Halloween, was uneventful. We are in a fairly
isolated rural area, in adult mobile home park,
so did not see any kids out

No idea what kind of activities he had going on.

This week promises to be a tiny bit less
stressful, and quieter.

Forgot...other stuff going on here, I'm attempting
to build a website for our radio club...getting a
headache.

Also temp here got down to 25F last night, currently 39F.
There was an overnight accident on the bridge just above us,
I think it might have been due to black ice from the early
morning fog. Winter is upon us.

Ok, now I've run out of stuff to mention. Everyone have a
great week, stay well. 73 until next time. BTU Daryl >>>

KF5TVG:

GE Daryl and all on the net!

No time this week for radio stuff. This is our last week in
Norman OK to look after grandkids. Have a new one being
adopted and coming from South Korea this Saturday, so it's
been worth the wait. Big family/friends gathering will be
waiting at the airport for arrival.

This neighborhood is really big and has lots of families,
so we had around 200+ kids come by last night. Everyone
was well behaved and it was nice to see so many people
out. Weather was wonderful.

The first hamfest in the region is this weekend in Enid
OK, since early on in the pandemic. Our local one in
Tulsa was put off again this fall, and is tentatively
scheduled for April next year. Hope it doesn't get
canceled for the 3rd time.

Daryl, will be praying the eye procedure goes well!

Jeff, thanks for your service!

Scott, probably 40-50 years sice I looked up and saw the
Milky Way. Thought it was converted to candy bars years
ago. Hi Hi!

Bob, safe travels to MO for Thanksgiving.

Charley, hope you are doing well.

Sorry if I forgot anyone, and Daryl thanks for doing
the net! Hope everyone has a great week and 73 >>>

KF5JRV:

GE everyone

It was a good week. The cooler temps helped. Spent
the weekend in the wilds of Arkansas. I still own
my dad's home. No internet of cell service. No night
lights either. To my surprise the Milkyway is still
in the night sky.

Jackie and my son Isaac had a good time setting by
the wood stove reading.

We didn't make it back in time for trick or treaters
this year.

Jackie's garden is done for this year. Time to get
the raised beds ready for spring.

Good luck with the medical procedure Daryl.

Welcome to Jeff and wish everyone a good week. BTU >>>

GE everyone, sorry about the QTH: Sacramento CA

Getting our first real rain since January, and
finding out we have a roof leak

we got enough trick or treaters last night to run
out by 8pm. they even took pretzels when the candy
ran out

A little about me, been working for the military
since 1993, licensed since 2000, running a BBS
off and on since 2005, mostly on since 2016

Gents, thanks for having me on the net.

Been meaning to check it out for weeks, just tough
to get home by 5pm PST but things slow down between
now and January, should be on more now.
