WX4QZ:

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving...and you
remembered to set your scales back 20 pounds before
the holidays (hi hi).

Our last net for 2021 will be on Monday, Dec. 13, 2
weeks from tonight...since Dec. 20 and 27 fall during
Christmas and New Years weeks respectively. After
Dec. 13, we won't meet again until Jan. 3, 2022...
and I'm having a hard time typing that year already!!

The Yag Laser Eye surgery appears to have gone well,
but I haven't tested my night driving yet. The only
time I go out after dark is for square dancing, or
for an emergency situation. I have some yellow night
glasses to use...some of those halogen lights are
real bright.

I've had a bad headache much of the day...not sure
if it's from too much time in front of the computer,
not sleeping well, or something else. At least I
don't have any early wake up calls, except on Friday
morning for a ham radio traffic net. With the new
Omnicron variant of COVID-19, things could get mucked
up again. Too bad there isn't a Congressional variant
and mutation...because if you get it, nothing happens,
so nothing is done on it (hi hi).

I discovered with Netlogger that I can create a
pre-net checkin file and save it, then reload the
template for it prior to a net. It saves recreating
the file each week...and it's easily updated.

This is Winter Weather Awareness Week in Arkansas,
and with a moderate La Nina, we could get a wide
range of weather...anything from a major snow and
ice storm, to a tornado outbreak, as we've had in
the past. Meteorological Winter starts Dec. 1. I've
got to contact my lawn man to do the yard one more
time before winter sets in, to mulch the leaves, and
cut the grass. Then, I won't need him again until
spring. Hurricane Season ends tomorrow, and I know
many folks are glad of that.

I updated the Excel Net List Spreadsheets and some other
ham radio files off of the hyperlink off of my QRZ bio.
Feel free to snag those at your leisure. The recent net
changes are highlighted in red. One long running net is
going QRT after Sunday night, as net participation has
drastically fallen off since spring, 2019...and they
can't get any net controls. The ones who had been doing
it have moved to areas where their internet is so poor
that they keep losing the reflector. For various reasons,
I left that net in March, 2019, and almost quit the hobby;
I'll spare you the gory details; email me if you must
know.

I had to do a reset on the phone Friday night. With the
2 step verification, I nearly couldn't get back into
load the data. Thankfully, I was still logged on to
my Google account via the desktop computer, so I could
change things...and get some backup codes, if this has
to be done again. Two words...technology, phooey!! (hi hi).

Bob, the only good Blizzard Warning is when the Dairy Queen
employee says your confectionary treat is ready (hi hi).
I've heard of folks packing it so full of toppings that
the bottom of the cup container fell out!! The DQ closest
to my house is a bear to get in and out of, traffic wise.

Sorry I wasn't able to join you and Charley in Branson.
This time of year, DIET is a 4 letter excuse to cheat, or
an acronym for "Did I Eat That?" (hi hi).

Rick, bummer on the weather and its effects. FB on the
coax...I hope you don't find anything.

I'm not which is worse darkness wise for the winter.
The seasons are reversed in the southern hemisphere,
but it's either dark in the morning to school and work,
or dark in the afternoon from school and work.

I need to do some straightening up as well, but I don't
have the strength. If I get down on my hands and knees,
I have to have pillows on the floor, and a chair to pull
myself up with, or I can't get back up.

Thanks to both of you for being here, and to Bob for
providing the BBS. >>>

NS2B:

GE All.

The trip to Missouri was nice, but quick.

I actually behaved my self food wise for the most part.
Except for our Wednesday night stop at Lambert's Cafe
in Ozark! I simply ate too much there!

Went to Paula Deen's in Branson on Monday night - met
Charley on the Landing there and had an eyeball QSO.
Just so you guys know, he's a short little guy! :-)

Speaking weather - on the drive back my son and I chose
to do a straight through trip breaking it into 4 hour
stints. Except for Cleveland and Eastern Ohio the drive
was somewhat uneventful. Cleveland however had a blizzard
going on with whiteout conditions.

It was a good visit, but now it's good to be home.

Pauls Deen's was very good but I showed restraint.
Thanksgiving dinners ( I went to 2 different ones )
were good - and again, good restraint. Except for
this Bourbon Pecan - which has too much Bourbon in it -
but it was very good!

Rick, one of these days I need to try VARA.

That's all for me Daryl. Thanks for running the net.
Have a good week. 73 >>>

VA7RBP:

Good Evening Daryl and Bob. Hope you had a great
Thanksgiving!

We didn't go out much overthe past two weeks, heavy rains,
snow, more rain. Flooding, mudslides, bridge washouts,
rock slides locally here. Daily highway closures, fuel
rationing in the affected areas, essential travel only to
the coast. So we have been staying home.

Today was not bad. We actually had a bit of sun, and I
managed to get at my 40M coax to do an inspection. Nothing
obvious found !!??

I've been playing with VarAC on 20M, Robust Packet and VARA
on 20M and 17M, and mucking about with QtTermTCP...causing
trouble if you follow the groups.io VARA forum. But I've
been keeping busy.

I guess I'm going to have to wait for another sunny,
semi-warm day to work on my antennas, today I had to shut
it down as it's getting dark at 04:30 pm

I built an enclosed fan dipole feed point, so I can reduce
the number of coax's to one. Going to need a full day to
mount it up on the mast, and I still need to make up four
antenna jumpers, and I have to lengthen the antenna boom
to eight feet so I can add a 6M Hustler mini-dipole.

More stuff to keep me busy. I have added a rigblast
advantage to my wish list, all the cabling and interface
boxes and sound card dongles hanging around is driving me
nuts. I just want to have 1 USB cable to the Rigblaster and
1 cable to the radio.

OK, now I'm out of juice, so everyone have a great week.
73 until next time. And thanks Bob for hosting the NET!
