Sorry for the delay in posting. I was so tired
after the net last night (as I had to also do
another net), that I crashed out. And, I forgot
about doing it until now <blush!>.

WX4QZ:

GE to all on the net.

We dodged the winter storm bullet here over the
weekend, but the high elevations got quite a bit
of snow...and it's far worse to the east of the
Mississippi River, and into New England. There
were even tornadoes reported in Florida. There's
a chance of storms Wednesday, then it'll turn much
colder the rest of the week...but after all, it is
winter. But, it makes everything in my body hurt.

I'm still fighting with the state of Arkansas...I
hope it's a glitch in the system, but they're
threatening to remove my Low Medicare Beneficiary
payment. If I have to pay nearly $200 a month for
Medicare, I'm forced to sell the car. These folks
in government have no clue what the less fortunate
have to deal with...they've likely got more money
than they know what to do with.

Even though the new Technician Class Question Pool
is out, I look for changes before it's finalized,
and takes effect on July 1. I hope my VE Team can
resume testing in March, but Covid-19 with both
Delta and Omnicron are spiking here. I hope I don't
need any more shots. What I really could use is
some extra funding. That 5.9% COLA increase didn't
go very far.

I hope to get a shave and a haircut tomorrow, but
it'll cost more than 2 bits...I'm looking like a
combination between a shaggy dog and Santa with the
white beard and hair...not to mention the belly;
although this diet of lunch meat sandwiches and
lemon Koolaid is getting old.

I had to remove some of the doorgames on my telnet
BBS, as the system isn't busying itself out during
nightly maintenance. It was better than doing a
full reinstall, or just shutting it down forever
before it turns 30 in May.

VA7RBP:

Good evening Daryl and all on the net.

Another really slow week. I didn't accomplish a heck
of a lot. Just playing on the radio and binge watching
TV shows.

40m PACTOR first thing in the mornings, then some 20M
HF Packet. then HF Packet again on 17M, as well as some
Robust Packet on 17M. Back to 20M for some VarAC, and
when everything slows down I've been firing up WSPR.

Last Tuesday on 17M WSPR I was heard in Antarctica at
5 watts.

Not much else done, the odd grocery shopping trip and
carting the wife off to the hospital for an ECG session.

Our temps have been above freezing the past few days,
so the snow piles are diminishing and the roofs are
actually visible. We may still get some more snow.
Enjoying the slight warmer weather while it lasts.

Bob (OK), A good resource for HFP and RPR is on the
groups.io forum (HF Packet and Robust Packet), and
the Virginia Packet website.

I use US7HO soundmodem and EASYTERM mostly for HFP
300BPS AFSK, 1700 Hz CF audio, and 14.105 LSB mostly.

Frequency lists should be available.

Well, that's all I have for tonight. Everyone have a
great week, 73 until next time. BTU Daryl... >>>

KF5TVG:

GE Daryl and all on the net. I've had a really bad
cough over the last several weeks. XYL and I both
tested negative a week ago Thursday, but she tested
positve a few days later. I assumed I would test
positive as well, so didn't bother. Was Vaxxed
(old computerguy joke: "... and I have a PDP-11replica,
as well") and boosted, so the effect was pretty mild.
Still, didn't get much done while trying to recover.
Mostly over with it, and never had a fever so assume
it was Omichron, not Delta.

Rick, tell me about packet on HF. Point to somewhere
with times, freqs, tools, etc?

Also, during all this, my C drive on my laptop died.
Was still under warranty (never happened to me before!),
so I sent it in for repair. Really quick turnaround, got
it back today and...wait for it... I'll need to send it
back for them to get the disk drive done properly. At
least they were fast! Hi Hi.

Any body doing winter field day this year?

Nothing else to add tonight, so hope everyone has a great
week. 73! BTU Daryl >>>

NS2B:

GE All!

I got 10" here, my son has 14" at his place - and while
our snow removal people are busy at work - it's still
coming down so the roads suck. He needed a ride to the
grocery store so I failed to realize that the roads
were going to be slow going; that's what delayed getting
back in here.

I think you're right - if you've gotten covid 3 times
you're never going to immune from it!

On the radio front - since the ID-52A is commanding gold
plated prices and people are agog over them - it means
the older radios are almost reasonably priced now - so I
just bought an ID-51A plus 2. Waiting for it to get here
now.

Doesn't that Omicron name sound like a Transformer
character?

The Corvette Museum down there in Bowling Green had a
sinkhole suck up 6 or 8 Corvettes a few years back. The
cars have since been recovered and the building damage
repaired - but people were freaked out for that!

Thanks for the post Scott!

Nothing more here - 73 all! Have a good week!

Comments From WX4QZ:

Rick, FB on the modes, especially the contact to
Antartica. I thought there was a CME or solar flare
over the weekend. I know there was that volcanic
eruption with Tonga, that caused a Pacific Ocean
wide tsunami, with warnings and advisories for
the west coast of the US, Alaska, Hawaii, Japan,
China, and Austrailia.

Bob (OK), bummer on the computer and the covid. I
know a lady in square dancing who has had it 3 times
already. I don't know of folks around here doing
Winter Field Day.

Bob (NY), glad to fill in for you for the net tonight.
Around $700 for that ID-52?? No thanks. Hope you got
a good deal on a comparable rig. I remember that
sinkhole deal with the Corvettes. As for Omnicron,
they named it that, instead of Xi to avoid offending
China.

Charley, the National Weather Service said the same
thing here, roller coaster temperature swings. I saw
where Ralph Emery died over the weekend. He was a
fixture at WSM and TNN for years...he'll be missed.
On one show, he had a guy performing Yakety Sax, and
there was a lady there from the UK. She told him that
she knew the title of the song. When she said "Benny
Hill", it brought the house down in raucous laughter
(hi hi). There used to be a "line dance" to that.

Scott, Jackie has the biggest green thumb of anyone
I've ever seen.
