WX4QZ:

GE to all on the net.

A winter storm affected much of Arkansas this past
week. North Arkansas got mostly snow, central
Arkansas got more sleet than freezing rain, and
just south and east of Little Rock, there was more
freezing rain than sleet...along with power outages.
I never lost power here, but my car on the north side
of the house is still snowed and iced in. With highs
in the 50s and 60s the next several days, and no rain
expected for another week, that should help melting.
Today was the first day I could step off the front
porch, to move the trash can back in from the garbage
pickup (they were supposed to get it on Friday, but
roads were too icy). I have plenty of food and drink,
but I guess I'm homebound a few more days. A fellow ham
sent me an extra ThumbDV for the setup, but I haven't
been out since last Tuesday. I hope the one I have holds
up until I can get the backup, or I'm QRT. Our tornado
season will be here soon enough, though...and that's
more to worry about.

I should've expected it...with Valentine's Day next
week, many places (especially colleges) are going
overboard with hedonistic orgies with "Sex Week".
The days of Noah and Lot are here (sigh!). I will
be here next week, so if you want to take the night
off for Valentine's Day evening dinner with your XYL
or YL, etc., feel free to do so. The area barbershop
and beautyshop quartets are busy this time of year with
the "Singing Valentines". Too bad I don't have a lady
friend I could do this for. The young lady I met at a
local restaurant invited me to her church, and I visited
2 weeks ago, but was iced in this past week. She's only
16, but right now, I just want someone to talk to. This
last Thursday was 15 years since I lost my Dad, and it
wasn't 3 months later that I lost my wife...and it has
been 2 1/2 years since I lost my Mom...so I've been very
lonely lately. I hope I can visit again this Sunday, if
the weather cooperates.

I obviously won't be going to Hamcation in Florida
this weekend, and I decided to skip a small hamfest
in northeast Arkansas this weekend. I just can't
handle the long drives anymore, and I don't have the
extra cash. I did talk to a ham on Hamshack Hotline
earlier today. My number is 4848 (lucked out on that
one!!).

I have to get a square dance publication out next
Monday, but folks will likely wait until the last
minute to get stuff in. At least after I release it
next Tuesday, I don't have to mess with it again for
3 weeks.

I'm just on the air now for nets that I run...it got
to be too much of a mad rush to try to just checkin
to other nets. I'm glad this net is "laid back", and
easy. Thanks to NS2B for providing the BBS for us.

GE All!

An uneventful week. We got snowed on the end of last week.
I think I ended up with 16" on top of the foot that was
already there. 'tis the season... The last couple of days
have been nice and sunny though - so some of it is starting
to melt.

Went through my cache of old antennas looking for something
to replace the OCF dipole that I'm not impressed with - found
a Par End-fedz 40/20/10 I forgot I had! It's a QRP antenna,
but I can buy a higher power matching transformer for it and
I think it's the next antenna going up when weather permits.

VA7RBP:

Good evening Daryl and all on the net.

Another slow week, mostly played on the radio, 40M PACTOR.
20M HF Packet and VarAC, VARA and Robust Packet on 17M.

Saturday, I repaired a TS-450S for a guy in the Nelson club.

The weather has been pretty much cloudy with temps around
freezing all week. It snowed again a few days ago, only
about an inch.

Today the outside thermometer was reading about +06C / 43F
and the driveway was clear and dry.

One of the guys on our 2M FM net was telling us he tracked
the snowfall since October, we've had around six ft. in
total so far.

At the moment there's only about a foot still on the ground.

GE everyone

Rick thought we had it bad in Branson with 8 inches of snow!
The hilly roads do make it difficult to get out so stayed in
couple days. Finally warm enough to get out and walk some
last three days. Still much snow on ground but melting quickly.

Still playing with 80 meter dipole, more tweaking to do.

My outside sensor reads bit high but showed 52.3 f, 11.3 C
today. Nice to have sunshine and get out.

KF5TVG:

GE Daryl and all on the net!

I received a notice this week of a new version (2.2) of PiGate.
It's by Mark KD0QYN in the St. Louis area. See pigate.net for
details, but briefly, its an emergency email gateway (thru
winlink) using RPi, TNC and a VHF/UHF radio. I put together
a 1.0 node a few years ago. Nice project that hopefully I'll
never need to use.

Did a little more FT8 on 10 and 12 meters this week. Slow on
those frequencies, but did pick up a new qsls in new states.
Really slow going, tho. Hopeful that Cycle 25 continues to
improve...a lot!
