WX4QZ (Replies toward the bottom):

GE to all on the net.

Time Change to Spring Forward March 13, but the
time for this net and most others won't change.
I wish they'd decide on one time and leave it...
makes it hard for the nets. And, I hate losing
that hour of sleep.

Thanks to NS2B for taking the net for me last week.
Tornado Season may keep me off the air next Monday,
with thunderstorms coming in Saturday, lasting well
into next week. I hope the storms hold off until
Sunday afternoon after church...my church is having
a spaghetti lunch to benefit the high schoolers for
a mission trip. If the weather is too bad, I may
leave early, or not go. Meteorological Spring starts
tomorrow...I'm so excited, I wet my plants (hi hi).
We need the rain to lower the fire danger, but can
do without the lightning and severe weather threat.
Pollen and hay fever will be here soon, along with
the insects. I won't mind a free car wash...the birds
flock to a newly washed car (hi hi).

We had some more freezing rain and sleet Saturday
night, and I thought the icicles falling off the
trees Sunday morning on the way to church would
shatter the windshield on the car...thankfully,
that didn't happen. With the winter weather late
last week, I rescheduled 2 medical appointments,
and that money came in handy earlier today, in
getting some prescriptions as well as some stamps
for mailing...not to mention lunch. Forget the
nutrition, bring on the luscious fat! (hi hi).

I got my exam supplies for a test session on March
19. Still no word from the FCC on that $35 fee.
Not sure how many examinees I'll get, but the
current Technician Question Pool expires June 30.
I also got the adapter from Gifts4Hams to get the
LED laser light callsign deal working in the shack
again. It has the QCWA Logo, my name and callsign,
the year I was licensed, and LIFE MEMBER. I use it
as a night light. Never mind the light in the icebox,
which is likely why it's OK to have a midnight snack
at 2am (hi hi).

Gas has really shot up here...with the war with
Russia and the Ukraine, and a potential war with
China and Taiwan, we'll likely be above $4 a gallon
here in Arkansas soon. Obviously, I'm limiting my
driving and shopping. I still have to set up a day
and time to get my taxes done. I shouldn't have to
pay taxes, but I have to pay the preparer.

KC2MHA:

Hello Daryl and net. I don't usually have the chance
to get on this net, but happened to see the PCL packet
net message in my bulletin mails on my bbs, and the
time was right so here I am!

I will soon be moving out of NYS and down to Florida
where we recently purchased a house in Cape Coral.
That will mean the 2m and 20m kc2mha packet bbs's will
be offline at least temporariliy as I get a new station
setup. I will be limited on antennas and shack space,
but at least no icicles to worry about crashing through
windows, right Daryl!

N3FWE:

Good evening all,

Pretty quiet here this week. Last day in this short month.
I didn't get on HF much this week, but I did get a QSL
card in the mail from FIJI. I like paper QSL cards. This
is new country for me so that made my week.

I worked on a QRZ page for W3R. Our club is having a
special event for the 120th annivsary of the Rockville
Bridge.

The longest stone masory arch railroad bridge ever built.
The bridge is just 5 miles from my house. Hope to work
some of you.

Daryl, What is the DMR Talk Group for that train net?
We have a few trains buffs in our club. >>>

NS2B:

This week was cold! And snowy - Tommy is making me
jealous getting out of this deep freeze.

Steve, I too have a collection of paper QSL cards.
But it seems they're harder to come by - everyone
does eQSL, or LOTW, or QRZ or some other electronic
QSLing.

Daryl, I guess VE testing at our club has come to
an end. We're down to 2 VEs, another moved away.
Can't test with only 2 VEs.

Absolutely - got you covered.

I might have to go on the lamb if it's the law I
have to go to FL!!

My son still lives here in the deep freeze and I
suppose I should hang around to be close to family.

Or I could say tough luck, I'm outta here!!

VA7RBP:

Good evening Daryl and all on the net.

That week disappeared quick...didn't accomplish much.

I've been working on a Raspberry Pi SVXLINK project
for the past few weeks. Building some radio interfaces
and support circuitry. Fighting with alsa audio on the
Pi. I can get audio out of the USB sound card, but I
can't receive any audio through the card...will
continue to beat it to death...

Also been playing with HF Packet on 14.105 LSB, VarAC
on 14.105 USB, and Robust Packet on 17M.

Thursday we will attempt to drive to Vancouver to
visit with family, it also our oldest Granddaughter's
19th coming up, so we'll be gone until next Tuesday.
We have winter storm warnings up for the high mountain
passes right now, hoping to be able to get through in
a couple of days. We had some more snow over night,
and getting some snow/rain mix at the moment. Temp
is +02C / 36F at the moment...it can all go away
anytime now...hoping!!

Gas price here is $1.599/litre.... about $4.78/US
gallon...my head hurts from doing that much math.

KF5JRV:

GE everyone.

She is playing with potting soil. Shouldn't be
long before the plants are growing. The weather
last week was cold with about 2 in of sleet/ice
covering everything.

But today was 60 deg and that cleared a lot of
the ice.

KF5TVG:

GE Daryl and all on the net!

First, Tommy, your story reminded me of the
Jerry Seinfeld joke:

"My parents retired so they are moving from NY
to FL. It's the law". Hi Hi

Mentioned an update to PiGate a few weeks ago.
Attempted to get updated version installed,
configured, and working. Hving trouble. Don't
know if it's software, a cable, a radio a TNC
or an RPi.

In other words, I have no clue yet, what is
going on! That seems to be a normal state
for me these days. Hi Hi.

I paid $3.78 for gallon of Premium in Tulsa
last week. No idea how much higher it will
go, based on the Russians, but I hope they
decide that Putin needs to go take a stroll
in the country, and let someone else run
the place for awhile.

Tulsa has a giant refinery just across the
river from downtown, and much of the year
we have the lowest gas prices in the US.
Guess we will be talking about how much
gas costs, in addition to the weather on
nets such as this.

Thanks to you and Bob for this net each
week.

Replies from WX4QZ:

Tommy, good luck with the move to Florida.
I'm originally from the Miami area. I was
there when it snowed in 1977; and that year,
much of the state's orange and grapefruit
crop was wiped out.

The DMR Talk Group for the Trains Net is
31012 -- go to openquad.net for connection
info. First time checkins can request a
commemorative certificate via email.

Bob (NY), bummer on the VE Testing going
away. But, those things happen. Thanks
for being on standby for me next week,
in case of thunderstorms. Florida doesn't
have to deal with snow and ice as much as
they do hurricanes.

Rick, good luck on the RPi issue. FB on
HF packet. We'll miss you next week, but
enjoy the time with family. And, agreed
on the headache from the gas price math.

Scott, glad Jackie can soon start with
her planting. It's supposed to be in the
70s here by midweek.

Bob (OK), lots of folks retire to Florida.
Good luck on getting the PiGate issue
solved. Agreed about the gas prices and
the weather.

We lost Barry...sorry he couldn't stay
connected.
