Hi ALL,
As we all know too well, the cost of living has gone up and is still going up.
Many are having to make big decisions between heating or food let alone having funds for hobbies.
Over the last few weeks, I have heard and seen quite a few messages from Sysops of:
Repeaters
Simplex Links
Packet BBS Systems
Nodes
Winlink Gateways
And many more ham radio related services where the sysop is asking if they should renew their NOV this year as the service is not getting much use or funding.
Yes, Ham Radio is a hobby and we ALL enjoy & avail of these kind dedicated people that put these systems on for the use of the ham radio community.
We use these services a lot of the time without any thought of the cost of running such a service.
If you use a service, please consider the people who run them and the costs involved, maybe even a donation to the service. Even a small amount $5 / _5 / œ5 can help.
I know times are hard now, but we face losing services that may never come back online again if we don't support the people who run them.
I know a lot of these services were a godsend to us all through the lockdowns of COVID 19.
