WX4QZ:

We won't meet Nov. 21, 2 weeks from tonight,
due to the Thanksgiving Holiday Week.

Last Sunday was the time change, but some folks
forgot about it. The clocks at the podiatrist
were that way when I was there this afternoon.

Severe storms ravaged the region Friday night
into Saturday...several EF-1 tornadoes, with
some EF-2 and EF-3 tornadoes, with damage,
injuries, and fatalities. A square dance caller
and her husband weren't at home when a tornado
destroyed their home, travel trailer, and the
shed that it was under. They have insurance,
but are understandably emotionally crushed. It
will turn colder here late this week, with
highs near 50, and lows around freezing or
colder. We need something to kill the bugs.

The absentee ballot I had requested nearly
3 weeks ago now, finally arrived in the Post
Office Box last Thursday. I didn't open it,
but called Voter Registration to complain.
Apparently, I'm not the only one having
problems with getting the absentee ballots.
They told me just to mark it "Return To
Sender" (cue the music from Elvis (hi hi)),
which I did, then sent it back today. I also
got my 3rd Covid booster. I'm tired from all
the running around, and took a quick power
nap before the net. All my medical stuff for
2022 should be done with now.

The Wal-Mart Gift Cards I had ordered came
in today, and I was originally going to
just donate them to my church's Food Pantry.
But, unexpected expenses made me cut back
on my groceries and trips out, so I may have
a member of my Sunday School buy them from
me, and I can use the money for groceries
and Lyft fees...4 trips today cost $75, with
a $5 tip to each driver.

I added another net to my Net Control duties
(so much for "NAVY" (Never Again Volunteer
Yourself (hi hi))...the QCWA Sunflower Net on
Saturday morning. One can connect via Allstar,
HamShack Hotline, Echolink, D-Star, DMR, TGIF,
and Fusion -- details are at sunflowernet.us
The net is at 10am Eastern, 9am Central, 8am
Mountain, 7am Pacific, on Saturday.

I plan to stay home the rest of the week, and
watch the Election Returns tomorrow night,
after I finish doing the Arklatex D-Star Net.
But, I'm glad the mudslinging is over...yet,
the 2024 campaigns will start soon enough.

With being out all day, I had a late dinner,
and took the Lasix late...not my pee-rogative
(hi hi)...so, if it takes me a minute to
respond, you can guess why.

GE All!

An uneventful week. Last Monday was doing the
Pumpkin Patrol thing watching one of the
bridges over the NY State Thruway. It's one of
those Amateur Radio Community Service Exercises.
'Twas uneventful - as you would hope it to be -
the only issue we had was some bozo playing
music and talking rude on the repeater we were
using. The powers that be have the FCC involved.
I haven't heard anything else about it.

Weather here is uncommonly warm for this time
of year - it makes cleaning up the leaves a lot
nicer!

I'm with you Daryl - watching election returns
is almost entertaining!

Got my 3rd Covid booster last Friday - felt like
I had the flu Friday night - but basically back
to normal on Saturday.

Went to visit my GFs uncle yesterday - he's in
the VA hospital in Syracuse. He's lookin' pretty
rough - might be near the end - sad.

KF5JRV:

GE Everyone

Everyone in the houshold is having sinus issues
but otherwise healthy.

We were able to get out and start getting Jackies
raised beds in shape for spring

I spent today trying to figure out features on
the new Yaesu. It does a lot of things I didnt
even think about.

VA7RBP:

Good evening Daryl and all on the net.

We have 27F and it's snowing here...

I got my 4th COVID boost On Oct 01, sore arm and
tired for a few days.

I've been assembling an ARCOM RC-210 repeater
controller since Wednesday, off and on. It's for
upgrading a mountain top repeater next summer
when we can get to it.

Also been playing with ALE400 and Multipsk...the
program works, but what a mess.

KF5TVG:

No tacos tonight!

This is the night for the monthly meeting, and it
has a presentation by a local guy that did a
one-man DX trip to a small island near New Zealand.
He did 18,000+ contacts in 5 days!

Anyhow, the last presentation he did, he read every
single line of the slides, with no extra comments.
Very dry! So, I'm going to wait for it to get posted,
and zip through it.

I loaded a new version of BUild a Pi (BAP) this week
and tried a new to me app called YAAC, Yet another
APRS client. The config is overly complex, but I
finally got it to work.

Weather has been mild here but supposed to drop later
in the week, I think.

Responses From WX4QZ:

Bob (NY) all I've had is a sore left arm from
the shots, but I'm tired from all the running
around, then standing waiting for the Lyft
driver to show up.

Scott, I know about the sinuses and the weather
changes. Miss Jackie has the biggest green
thumb of anyone I've ever known!! GL on the
spring planting work before winter. The rigs
nowadays are way too complicated to figure out.

Rick, I saw where Nicole may hit Florida as a
hurricane this week...not as strong as Ian was,
but they don't need any more storms. The season
is supposed to end Nov. 30, but I have to wonder,
as crazy as the weather has been. They are
expecting a huge snow and ice storm in the
northern Plains this week. FB on the repeater
controller...GL with that...and FB on ALE400
and MultiPSK. Windows Update 2nd Tuesday is
tomorrow...I hate all the time it takes on my
computers.

Bob (OK), I saw where the Ohio-Penn DX Bulletin
shut down Oct. 31 -- some folks love contesting
and DXing, but that never appealed to me. At
least there's something in the hobby for
everyone. FB on Build a Pi (BAP) and the YAAC
APRS client. I thought about putting the APRS
Android client on my smartphone, but so far,
can't convince myself to do it. I hate the
"dry presentations" as well. The speaker may
think they're interesting, but the feeling
isn't mutual!!

Charley, I had trouble with the telnet
programs on my Android...wanted to logon
to my BBS that way...just too small to work
with. You surely are the world traveler!!
With all those extra charges, you have to
save wherever you can. Hope you can charge
the cellphone up...they run down so fast.
I'm sure the little ones were terrified of
the storms...can't stay that I blame them.
Hope you brought sunscreen with you. With
the dry corneas, which made me give up my
driving 5 months ago, it sounds like it'd
be more stress on the eyes. Even being at
the computer gets rough at times.
