WX4QZ:

First off, we won't meet next Monday, Nov. 21,
due to the US Thanksgiving Holiday Week. Since
we don't meet next week, I have a lot to talk
about...but, then I always do (hi hi).

Anyway, we'll be back Monday, Nov. 28...hopefully,
everyone will have come out of their turkey coma
by then (hi hi). We hope our US hams have a Happy
and Safe Thanksgiving...and get ready for the mad
rush of Christmas shopping...although the sales
have already started in some areas. I'll let
Bob, NS2B, post out a reminder message that we
won't meet next Monday. And, we'll also be QRT
on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2 -- so our last net of the
year will be on Dec. 19.

The apparent final count from the Nov. 4 tornado
outbreak in the region showed 16 in Arkansas. The
one that hit Idabel, Oklahoma was upgraded to an
EF-4. It's a study in contrast tonight, with the
higher elevations of north and west Arkansas
under a winter weather advisory for snow, with
2 inches or more expected in some areas. It has
been chilly here otherwise, with highs in the
40s, and lows in the 20s. No rain is expected
here for the next week, after the rain tonight;
although some models are hinting at rain for the
Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend...a good time to
stay home!! Besides, we don't know if more gifts
get exchanged on Christmas, or the day after
(hi hi).

Last week, I got my 3rd Covid-19 booster, but
had a slight fever 2 days later, and a bit of
a sore throat. While waiting for the shot, this
mother was at the pharmacy getting prescriptions
for her 2 young daughters, who had just come from
the ER, diagnosed with strep throat (they had
masks on, but they were restless). I guess I may
have caught something from "the pint size petri
dishes"...so, I've been sleeping more than usual
lately...but it isn't for beauty's sake...I gave
that up long ago (hi hi).

The Wal-Mart gift cards I had earned with my
HMO, are going to have to go for my getting
more food...instead of my donating them to my
church's food pantry. The expenses of the pest
control and a podiatrist visit last month, ate
a big chunk out of funds for Lyft and groceries.

With getting set to release the next month's
issue of a square dance publication after my
other nets tonight, I'll shop online tomorrow,
and have the stuff delivered on Wednesday. I
am in sore need of cough drops for the sinus. A
ham has sent me a package (no idea what it is),
but it won't arrive until Friday...but, I may
wait until next Monday to go to the Post Office
Box again. Lyft can get expensive, but a major
car repair can be far worse...and, I don't have
to worry about gas prices, insurance premiums,
car tags, property taxes, etc. I'll also post
the scribe sometime Tuesday.

The voting is done, but the counting is still
going on in some areas...I think the elementary
school kids can count faster than some of the
places where votes are still outstanding. It
is taking as long as it is to earn 5 band DXCC!!

I added another net to my schedule (so much for
NAVY - N)ever A)gain V)olunteer Y)ourself (hi hi).
I now run 3 nets with the Quarter Century Wireless
Association...on Sunday afternoon, then on Friday
and Saturday morning...then check into a 6 meter
net via Echolink Tuesday evening, in the Hickville,
New York area...not sure how far that is from
Penfield. Then, I log for a net on Sunday and
Wednesday evening...Net Control's computer went
Tango Uniform on him, so he can't access or use
Netlogger. Thursday night is my only night off,
as it were...and most nets will cancel for the
holidays...as noted, this net is one of them.
However, I'll do my weekend nets on Thanksgiving,
Christmas, and New Year's...for those who are
around.

One ham was late to a net, although for 2 of the
nets I do, I offer a 25 hour checkin window for
Facebook. When I said "he was late to the table",
I asked "does that mean he has to do the dishes??";
and was told "As Net Control, you can decide that"
(hi hi).

I had to redo that PowerPoint presentation I
had done at an area hamfest nearly 4 years ago,
due to several changes. I couldn't find the
original work copy, so I had to load up the PDF,
and create a new one from the other file. It
wasn't hard, but it sure was tedious. I'm doing
a final check on it, before exporting the PDF
file. I've been spending so much time with my
computer here in the bedroom/shack, that I think
I'm getting the one getting screwed (hi hi).

I found out there'll be a hamfest in Dardanelle,
Arkansas on Saturday, March 4, 2023...no other
details right now. Not sure if I can go or not,
since I don't drive anymore. I may bum a ride
with a fellow square dancer, who's also a ham.
His parents are presidents of the state square
dance organization, of which I'm the Editor,
Webmaster, and Circulation Chairman.

NS2B:

GE All.

An uneventful week. I'll send out the bulletin
next week that we'll not have a net next Monday.
I'm planning on flying out to Minneapolis to
have Thanksgiving with my oldest boy. I suspect
it won't really be a Turkey coma, but instead
a BBQ coma - he's big into BBQ.

I had similar symptoms with my 3rd covid booster -
felt like I had the flu for about a day.

Weather here has finally decided to turn cooler -
woke up to a dusting of snow on things. It'll only
get worse from here! hihi

I had a good friend in the Marine Corps that was
from Dardanelle - a small world.

Not much new in the radio world - maybe a complaint -
there's a fellow that runs an HF Winlink access point
not far from me - when he has his radio on, I can
connect to him via ground wave perfectly. That's the
issue - he doesn't turn his node on that much, so I
end up being forced to use a Telnet connection at
times.

VA7RBP:

Good evening Daryl and all on the NET.

Last week, I kept busy building an ARCOM RC-210
repeater controller, and bench testing it. I handed
it over to the guy who will be updating the firmware
and installing it on a mountain top next summer, when
the snow is off the mountains.

Did a bit of radio play with PACTOR, HF Packet and
ALE400.

At the moment, I'm playing around with my ALLSTARLINK
NODE, trying to connect to another ALLSTARLINK node
that is connected to a repeater port, to see if I can
remotely activate the repeater ports.

Trying to figure a way to link up all the local
frequencies so I can deliver my NOON-TIME NET at
once, and not have to QSY to each frequency, and say
the same stuff over again.

I have a couple radios waiting in the wings for some
troubleshooting attention, but I get distracted easily.

We have a local Tech Club here, and this weeks
presentation was on kicad, a schematic drawing
program and have them make up any number of boards
you want...really cool.

WX here is cloudy, temp is at 33F at the moment,
and no snow for the past week and none forecast until
next Monday...but that can change in minutes.

KF5JRV:

GE everyone.

We have about 1/2" on the automobile and grass. Not
sticking to the roads yet. Good night to be inside
on the net.

I have used the kicad on some z80 and 8085 cpu boards.
Very fast turn around for pretty cheap.

Still learning the ftdx10. It has built in rtty and
psk. I have rtty figure out. Now need to get the
settings for psk.

KF5TVG:

Too cold for tacos tonight! Rainy and cold at 34F.
Maybe snow yet tonght.

Got YAB (yet another booster) this week. Have 2 initial
and now 3 boosters on board.

Going to family get together in Norman OK for Thanksgiving.
Includes 6 grandkids, so I'm bound to catch something.
Worth it tho!

Monday nites are rf busy here. There is a digital network
that just started at 7:15CST, then the Broken Arrow analog
FM at 8pm...plus tacos before the net, weather permitting!

Replies from WX4QZ:

Bob (NY), I don't have any RF gear with having heart
issues. But, as noted, I rarely see anything in my
WL2K mailbox.

Rick, FB on the repeater controller. Two of the QCWA
Nets I access (one is checkin only, and the other one,
I run) during the week have ALLSTAR capabilities...but
I use Echolink...not sure if there's a computer app
for that. I guess I'll have to do some research...and
I might need some elmering. If I get distracted while
doing something, everything I was thinking about is
GONE. Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the
most (hi hi). Electronics was never my forte', and my
hands shake too much from lightning strike nervous
system damage to worry about drawing schematics. I
don't think I have Parkinson's Disease...at least, I
hope not. Congestive Heart Failure is bad enough. The
darn screen saver kicked in again...I disabled the
LOCK, and extended the timer, but I'm still missing
something.

Scott, not sure if this is a harbinger of winter
or not. Rick's mention of the kicad program is the
first I've heard of it. There are 2 big RTTY contests
each year...you'll enjoy that. GL with the PSK setup.

Bob (OK), whatever moisture's left will turn to black
ice for sure. That was more like a jab...at least I'm
done with my medical stuff for the year. As noted,
the funds I got from the HMO for doing the medical
stuff this year will buy me groceries. Have a safe
trip to family for Thanksgiving, and enjoy time with
the 2nd generation harmonics.
