Hello to ALL Packeteers,
It's nice to see so many new callsigns appearing on the network over
the last few months, Packet Radio seems to be making a bit of a resurgence.
Maybe this is due to the GreenCube Satellite?
I have also seen an increase in activity since the lockdowns of Covid 19,
Maybe people wanted something to play with or even to keep in touch.
To the new users on the network, I would like to say hello and
A very warm welcome! I hope to chat to you soon on the chat server.
I would also like to say a huge thank-you to ALL the Sysops out there, without whom
the network would not be as good as it is.
They provide a massive service to the network through Bulletin Board Systems, Nodes,
Links & Chat Servers.
All this in the name of providing a great service to other hams for free.
Times are getting harder for everyone right now. Everything is going up in price & set to
get worse next year.
This year I have seen Repeaters, Beacons, Packet Nodes & internet links/gateways all
close down as the sysops are no longer able to fund the ongoing costs of these on
their own with no help.
I just ask that if you are in a position to help, please do!
This may be:
Your Time, Putting up an antenna or servicing equipment.
Equipment, maybe you have old items you no longer use that could be of use (TNC's) .
Financial, A small donation to the sysop to help with running costs & upgrades.
It just leaves me to say to you ALL I hope you all have a great holiday & new year.
It's been a fantastic year on Packet & I hope there are many more to come
