WX4QZ:

I've had a rough few days, with problems with
the ADT alarm system, as 4 of the sensors went
bad, plus the control panel; so I couldn't even
arm the system. I've gotten very little sleep
overnight, then I had to get out a square dance
publication last night, besides doing ham radio
traffic nets, so I'm exhausted. After they came
by earlier today, I went back to bed. I had to
make arrangements to get a waiver on the service
call (I've been with them over 17 years, so I
figured loyalty would count for something), plus
what I get on disability doesn't go very far.
With being a fall risk, I could hurt or kill
myself if I tried to fix things on my own. The
dry corneas are giving me fits again, so I'll
be crashing out later tonight.

It's supposed to be stormy again here Wednesday,
but much of the Arklatex, Arklamiss, MidSouth,
and the southeast US have been pummeled by
several tornadoes since early November, and it
shows no sign of letting up. So, with the stormy
weather pattern, tomorrow will be my last day to
go out until after Groundhog Day; although I may
wait until next week to go out. I don't go outside
the Little Rock Metro area anymore, for hamfests or
otherwise. I decided to cancel my cardiologist's
appointment next Monday, as finances are tighter
than a frog's butt under water right now...and,
the cardiologist isn't the one with the get well
cards (hi hi).

My Saturday net had to be aborted as the network
went down...two words...technology, phooey!! Only
Thursday and Saturday nights are my nights off
from doing nets in one way or another. Some hams
offered to help me "solve that problem", but I
declined...the N)ever A)gain V)olunteer Y)ourself
N.A.V.Y. acronym keeps ringing in my head (hi hi).

I moved my license exam time locally to 11am on
selected Saturdays. This allows me to do a net on
Saturday morning, then others don't have to get up
so early to be there. No one likes getting up prior
to the buttcrack of dawn (hi hi). It'll be rather
interesting to see how many test for General before
the pools change on July 1.

GE All!

So I hope everyone had good holidays - mine were
good - but as always they go by too fast. And it
seems they go by faster the older you get...

So last week I was out in the Albany area helping a
friend clean out the family home after his brothers
passing. There is multi-generations of stuff there
as his grand parents were the original owners of the
house. He concluded the thing to do is take out the
stuff he wants and then hire one of those clean-out
companies to just gut the remaining stuff. We're
probably going back in March to make one final pass
through the place.

Next month we're going to the Daytona 500! Looking
forward to that.

Speaking of VE tesing - I saw a note the other day
saying they've got a remote/online testing system
now. I need to learn more about that.

Speaking of seeing the grass - we're way behind with
snowfall. Buffalo is an hour west and they've had
record breaking snow - I think they're at about 10
feet for the season - we're at 11 inches for season -
INCHES! we should be at about 45-50 inches by now.

My raised bed is ready - but no planting til May here.

VA7RBP:

Good evening Daryl and all on the net.

I did not accomplish a lot this past week. Just did the
usual PACTOR on 20M and 40M, some Robust Packet on 20M,
and some fighting with BPQ32, trying to configure a
WinRPR port.

Bob, I spent the week between Christmas and New Years
travelling to the coast to do the same as you...cleaning
out Arlene's Brother's place. We spent about two days
sifting through his stuff, deciding what to take home,
and hired the GOT JUNK folks to come and take what was
left away. There was a pile of stuff that we just put
in the lobby of the low rent appartment building he
lived in. It all disappeared so fast you would not believe
it!!

We're still dealing with his bills, and then we'll have
to do his taxes and wait a couple of months before we can
finally divide up the funds he had between Arlene and her
Sister...

Today I did some playing around with a test ALLSTARLINK
node, changing parameters to see what happens. I think
it will take a while to figure that out.

I can see grass again.

KF5JRV:

GE everyone

We had a good week. Saturday we were outside and the wind
and temps seemed on the cool side. Today however was about
72 degrees and perfect.

Starting to make a plan of attack on the raise bed garden.
Not to long before lettuce and snow peas will need planted

Still need to finish the BPQ32 node at our get away spot.
Need to get that antenna up.

Bob, enjoy the trip to the Daytona 500!!

As for remote VE testing, some area VE's are doing that,
but my team will just do 4 in person sessions a year.

My late parents were such packrats, with all the knick-knacks
here, it's pathetic. My brother would rather just sell it all
off, and get the money, but he'd have to pay taxes on it.
What he spends in 3 days of eating out, gets me groceries for
a month.

As for snow, it may not get as cold again as it did before
Christmas, but snow chances don't look that great here right
now...and the snow lovers aren't happy about that!! My cousin
in Erie doesn't plant her garden until after Mother's Day. In
fact, one year, northwest Arkansas got a half foot of snow
in early May!!

Rick, some of the nets I check into have Allstar, but I
have not figured out how to set up the applications on the
computer.

Scott, it's hard to believe it's almost spring planting season.
GL with the BPQ node, and tell Miss Jackie we said "Hi".
