WX4QZ:

Early Checkin for Bob, who was at the Daytona
500 yesterday...he should be back next week.
Early checkin for Scott, his packet PC went QRT.

Two weeks from this coming Sunday, March 12,
much of the US goes back to Daylight Savings
Time. If your area observes the time change,
with few exceptions, the net times won't change.
But, if you forget to spring forward on March 12,
you'll be an hour late for church, work, and nets.

It has been a crazy week. As we head into our
spring tornado season, rain and storms are
nearly an every day occurrence...it may mess
up my nets. At least we don't have wildfires
to worry about, and there have been a large
number of controlled burns going on.

As of Saturday, March 4, I will return The
Food Net to weekly, at 3pm Eastern Time on
Saturday on the QuadNet Array. With doing
the QCWA Sunflower Net on Saturday morning,
and the Food Net on Saturday afternoon, that
rules out hamfests for me...especially
considering that Little Rock doesn't do one
anymore, and I don't drive or have any
transportation anymore...never mind I can't
afford to go. So, I figured I might as well
put my stay at home time (basically 24/7) to
good use with ham radio. I didn't go to the
Hoxie Hamfest last weekend, and will miss the
ARVARF Hamfest in Dardanelle on March 4. I have
no plans for the Mena Hamfest after Labor Day
Weekend, nor the Morrilton Swapfest on Columbus
Day Weekend. With the stormy weather, and other
things this week, I won't get to the Post Office
Box until Thursday...then it'll be next month
before I can go again.

The Excel Net List Spreadsheet is messed up,
as the time for the Night Owls Net at 3am
Eastern Time Wednesday, won't change when you
want to switch time zones or DST. A ham in the
UK did work to make it with only one file. So,
I'm having to rebuild the list from scratch...
but I hope to get away with just copy and paste
into it, instead of putting in 210 entries
manually. That'll have to wait a few days.

I've got one more payment on an ER visit last
spring, but funds are so tight, that I have to
delay a shave and a haircut, and a podiatrist
visit until March. I'm overdue for a colonoscopy
and an EGD, but I can't afford the large co-pay
they want. I had to apply for assistance to
renew my MedicAlert Membership. If I was getting
per week what I'm getting per month, it'd be a
different story.

I finally got to interview a young ham in the
Clinton, Arkansas area, for the QCWA Scholarship
Award. He has been so busy, that we couldn't do
it until today. My laptop (Lenovo, with Windows
11) was ornery, and I had trouble getting the
Zoom deal loaded. Unfortunately, there's no way
to go back to Windows 10, unless the hard drive
is formatted, and I start over. If I knew then
what I know now, I never would've upgraded. The
young man has a lot in common with me, hobby
and health wise.

VA7RBP:

Good evening Daryl and all on the net.

Arlene is doing OK, she has a pre-operative
consultation at the end of the month, then we
will have to wait for the surgery date.

For me, it was a pretty busy week. Not a lot
accomplished with projects or radio play.

I have been working on updating the BVARC
website, and trying to make up a page for an
estate sale that's going to happen next Saturday...
lots of stuff...

Did the usual Saturday breakfast and coffee
sessions with the radio club guys in Castlegar
and Nelson, and of course Sunday, I went over to
the Air Cadets Hall and took tons of photos of
the stuff in the estate sale.

Today, I have been trying to build the web page
with the list of stuff, and matching each item
with the photos, in HTML.

Thanks for the kind words Daryl, for Arlene!

HTML stuff...I'm learning as I go...sticking
something in and seeing what happens using my
browser locally before I upload the code and
pic files to the server.

OK, that's it for me. Hope Bob is having fun
where he's at! Take care, stay well, and 73
until next time! BTU Daryl >>>

Replies from WX4QZ:

Rick, I'll continue to pray for you and Arlene.
With stage 1, they hopefully caught it early
enough, where it's treatable.

Apparently, the RTTY folks are still all over
the place...heard that on nets I did over the
weekend.

I have no ham radio gear here, but so much
other stuff, it's pathetic. I don't have the
strength or the money to set up an estate sale,
and all my brother would want is the money. But,
I have no place to go right now, even if I sold
the stuff.

As for the HTML, my knowledge on it is very basic.
It'd be like "this website will crash in 5 seconds.
Good luck, Jim" (hi hi).

As noted, Bob went down for the Daytona 500 in
Florida yesterday...and Scott's packet PC went
tango uniform. He can receive messages, but not
forward them...not sure when he'll be back online.
