WX4QZ:

Since this coming Sunday is Easter, The PCL Net will
NOT meet next Monday, April 10. We will return on
Monday, April 17. Rick should be back with us then.
With the shortage of Lyft drivers, I may stay in the
rest of the week. I will leave it to Bob, NS2B, to
post out a reminder message that we're off next week.

Severe weather was widespread across the central US
last Friday, with numerous tornadoes, plus several
reports of large hail, damaging winds, and flooding
rain. Tragically, there was widespread damage, plus
numerous injuries and fatalities. An EF-3 tornado hit
Little Rock in central Arkansas, and Wynne in eastern
Arkansas. No damage here...but we have a severe weather
risk again Tuesday night through Wednesday...and the
threat of overnight tornadoes is extremely dangerous.
There's tornado damage and road closures between me and
both my barbershop and podiatrist...so, those have to
wait until May...even though I need to see both of them
badly. And, the same may be true between here and the
Post Office Box facility. So, I'm stuck at the QTH for
awhile. At least I've got plenty of food and medicine.

It has been a major effort to do computer work, let
alone prepare the items for taxes, and the deadline
is 2 weeks away (since April 15 is on a Saturday).
I hope to scan those items in later this week, but
I just haven't had the energy lately. The stress
from the severe weather didn't help, either. At
least I got some computer work done otherwise. You
can see the Little Rock tornado on the Ryan Hall
Ya'll YouTube channel, with the March 31, 2023
tornado outbreak video...it's at least an hour in
with the Little Rock tornado, just after 2pm Central
Time.

I still haven't heard from the cardiologist on a
rescheduled appointment, that I had to cancel due
to a shortage of drivers with Lyft...and if many
of those were in areas west of where the tornado
was, they won't be doing much driving for awhile.

Several ham radio related April Fools jokes were
purveyed on Saturday...only when you realized the
day, you saw that those were "false and deceptive
signals" (hi hi).

NS2B:

GE all. Another uneventful week.

My son came home from the hospital. He's still
recouping, is going to have a GI surgery in
the not to distant future, but at least he's
home.

HF bands seem to have backed off a bit the last
few days. I can still make contacts, but not as
good as it was the week before.

Went to the racetrack Saturday for our annual
safety training. We had some pretty heavy winds
down there. I was trying to train a new girl on
flags - every time she put one out, it'd almost
carried her away! She needed to gain a few
pounds (hi hi).

I'll post the no net due to holiday bulletin.

K0WAV:

Not a lot to report here. Still waiting on
parts to get HF up and running. I went to
the OARS hamfest in Mount Vernon on March 25.
It was well attended, but the swapmeet was a
bit on the sparse side.

Bob, best wishes to your son and his surgery.

The rare lack of rain lately here has meant I
could not put off mowing any longer (hi hi).
So, got that taken care of. Glad to see Daryl
survived the Little Rock storms. We are prepared
for the next round Tuesday night into Wednesday
up here in Berryville. Hope the trees make it
through also. Other than that, I'm just trying
to stay off the radar (hi hi).

Scott (JRV) if you have issues with the PVC, I
have heard that there are 2 kinds of PVC, and
the class 200 PVC is more RF transparent than
normal PVC.

Best wishes to all those with upcoming surgeries.

KF5JRV:

GE everyone.

The wind last week blew down my packet antenna.
It broke the fiberglass tubing. Went to the
hardware and found some PVC pipe to replace it.
Seems to be working so far.

Jackie went to the eye surgeon today. They have
her surgery scheduled the 27th of April.

Starting to get the raised beds in shape. Still
about a month out for tomatoes and peppers.

Scott (WAV), I will look into the PVC. Thanks
or the tip.

Replies From WX4QZ:

Bob, it's supposed to be real windy here the next
2 days with the storms. I hope the trees don't get
blown over. Hope your son's GI surgery goes well.
With all the static crashes, I'm sure HF has been
rather rough to work with.

Scott (WAV), with these coming during the overnight
hours, I'm very concerned. FB on the hamfest...I
wonder how the OzarkCon QRP deal in Branson was
(I think it was this past weekend). My lawn guy
came by last Thursday, and cleaned things up.

Scott (JRV), hope Jackie's eye surgery goes well.
It'll be time for the other vegetables soon enough.
