WX4QZ:

Our next net holidays are May 29, for Memorial
Day, and July 3 for Independence Day.

I've got 4 folks signed up for their Technician
exam on May 6...I hope I'm well enough. I woke
up with a sore throat this morning, and the dry
corneas have been greatly limiting the computer
time. Due to finances and scheduling, appointments
with the eye doctor, podiatrist, and barber, have
to wait.

We are supposed to have rain and storms Tuesday
through Thursday, but at least we didn't get the
violent tornadoes Oklahoma had last Wednesday.
Little Rock may be on track for the wettest year
so far, for all the rain we've had.

I had to order groceries Saturday, and they came
yesterday; but I hear stores are going to charge
for those flimsy bags, whether at the store, or for
delivery. I guess they want us to eat bugs.

Thursday is the 16th anniversary of my XYL's death.
I was sobbing last night, in creating a graphic for
the BBS, which turns 31 on Monday.

I watched Brightline unveil their new Orlando depot
this past week...they look to do a booming business
transporting folks by train between Orlando and
Miami.

I forgot to mention that ARRL is looking at a dues
increase...we were just talking about cheapskate
hams last week!! And, I forgot to mention of an
update to the new General Class Question Pool that
comes out July 1.

GE All!

An uneventful week. Cooler wx is upon us. So I'm just
staying inside. Seems like we've had some solar activity
over the weekend, cuz the HF bands seem a lot quieter
the last few days.

My yard is looking like it needs a mowing - Friday is
supposed to be a "warm" day so maybe I'll mow then.

NT5R:

GE everyone

Busy week, granddaughter got married in Oklahoma
BIG wedding

Visiting friends now Tulsa area
Return to MO probably tomorrow

Newlyweds honeymoon this week in Branson
Take them SDC couple days

**

K0WAV :

Well my eyes also feel like they are full of gravel.

Today was mowing and weed wacker day.

Gratz to the newlyweds!!

Planning a trip to KCMO to visit family

Hope this cool spell is that last of the season.
These temp swings play heck with the sinus.

Hope to have HF back up and running in a few weeks.

And yes, there was a Geomagnetic storm this past weekend...
auroras all the way down to Illinois and Indiana area

VA7RBP :

GE ALL

It was a fast week.

I had to drive to Cranbrook last Thursday to attend a course,
and drive back home on Friday, 330 miles round trip.

At least it seemed like the week went by fast. Not a lot
accomplished other than that.

HF band have been poor the last few days, as mentioned earlier.

WX has been rainy, temp coming up slowly...43F this morning,
and will be 80F by next weekend.

Saturday, I picked up another SCS PTCII USB PACTOR modem, and
a digital storage scope, so I've been playing with those.

KF5TVG:

GE all!

No more tacos for me on Monday nites! I've moved to Norman, OK,
home of the OU boomer sooners. I'm a stranger in a strange
land, as I'm an OK state grad.

Now have a little more space dedicated to ham radio, but all is
still in boxes, so not "radio active" het.

The storms last Wednesday were pretty bad here in central OK.
There was a tornado that changed track from the typical NE to
due North, and we were in the direct path until 2-3 miles from
us. Then it changed direction again and was headed due west and
away from us. Never saw one loop back to the west like that, so
we were very grateful! It felt like a pretty close call.

KF5JRV:

GE everyone

Yes, they make a tunnel house which is pvc stuck in the ground
at both ends making a hoop that the plastic is folded over.

We are still waiting for a GO to set the plants in the raised
beds. Looks like Sunday the low temp is supposed to be 35 which
is pretty iffy.

Jackie has a minor surgery coming up Thursday. They are trimming
an eyelid so it will open enough not block her vision.

The weather looks to be rain this week so will be stuck inside.
Maybe some radio time.

Replies from WX4QZ:

Bob (NY), and others...I saw the stories on the Auroras...they
have been in Arkansas before, but it’s rare.

It has been so wet here, that the yard mowing folks are way
behind in their work.

Charley, congratulations on the granddaughter’s wedding...
best wishes to the new couple.

Scott (WAV), it’s not just the temperature swings being bad on
the sinuses, but the pressure swings on the arthritis.

Rick, that’s a long drive...glad you made it back OK. Back in
April, 1987, we had only gotten 3/4 of an inch of rain here,
and it was near 100 degrees!! FB on the PACTOR modem.

Bob (OK), glad you dodged the bullet on the storms. At least
you’re close to the National Weather Center in Norman!! It
was gut-wrenching watching the Doppler radar velocity display.
I saw that one tornado go from NE to N to NW...very strange.

Scott (JRV), thanks for the info on the “foldover greenhouseö,
as I had never heard of that. A few years ago, on Mother’s Day
Weekend, northwest Arkansas got 7 inches of heavy wet snow, so
it’s good to wait a bit to get the spring beds planted. Hope
Miss Jackie’s eye surgery goes well. They are forecasting some
storms this week, so you may not get to do much radio time.
