WX4QZ:

A reminder that the net will NOT meet 3 weeks
from tonight, Monday, May 29, in observance of
the US Memorial Day Holiday.

I've been dodging thunderstorms lately, and they
are playing havoc with my nets. We're looking at
heavy rain on my "net off days" Wednesday and
Thursday of this week, with good chances for
thunderstorms all the way through next Monday.
Then, it may become cooler and drier for a little
bit...but summer will be here soon enough. Today
is the first time I've turned the air conditioner
on in the house in several months. I have canceled
the on-air net on Sunday for Mother's Day, for
remembrance of my late Mom, and that I may be
dealing with thunderstorms anyway.

At a local license exam session Saturday, of the 7
candidates, we got 4 new Techs and an upgrade to
General...2 did not pass their exams. One had
submitted an out of date NCVEC Form 605, and I
didn't notice it until after I got home. So, I
had to trace signatures, but was told by ARRL/VEC
that the candidate had to fill out the top part of
a current NCVEC Form 605, and with the signatures
on the CSCE's, they'd accept that for his upgrade...
since I had destroyed the outdated 605. I got that,
and emailed it in. I'll call ARRL/VEC Tuesday to
be sure that will work. At least no one there had
been convicted of a felony.

I'm redoing a file called "The Triple Play"...3
ham radio skits full of pun humor...I didn't
realize many things in the file were out of date.
No telling how many times I've gone through it,
as I keep finding errors.

Lyft is being difficult again. They keep trying
to pair me with drivers that have a high ground
clearance vehicles (i.e. SUV's and pickup trucks).
I sent them a scathing email, telling them that
"if the high ground clearance vehicles are all
you're going to have, that's discrimination against
the disabled riders". So, my run to the bank and
the Post Office today got canceled. I have it noted
in my profile that I need "wheelchair access"...but
it is apparently being ignored. After Uber frauded
my bank card last spring, I can't go back to them,
and if I lose Lyft, I'll never leave my house again.
At least I can still get groceries and medications
delivered, but it'll mean no more medical appointments
or trips to the barbershop...and I'm in need of both.

I've run out of food again, and for a few days, I've
ordered the Family Bundle from Burger King...3 fries,
3 whoppers, and 3 cheeseburgers, for $20, via Grubhub.
With the regular price of a Whopper over $6, it's
like you get the cheeseburgers and fries for free. I
would lose Grubhub, though, if I had to quit using
Lyft. I hope to order some groceries in the morning.

KF5JRV:

It has been a good week. Jackie's eye are healing nicely.

Planted peppers and tomatoes today. The sun was pretty warm.
Hope to have some rain later this week to get them settled
in for summer.

Swapped out the antenna that was broken last month (wind
damage). Put up a j-pole. It has a lot less wind load profile.

Welcome to Steve. Glad to see a new call sign on here.

I like Outpost packet progam. However after my computer crash
I am using PUTTY.

To Scott (WAV) I do saws part time. If you drop it off at the
store I will get it.

Hope everyone has a good week.

NS2B:

GE All!

An uneventful week. Running to and from the hospital visiting
my son. He had surgery last week. Will likely be there another
2 or 3 weeks.

Updated the software on my digital hotspots and in the process
broke the D-Star hotspot. Had to reload it's software. Nothing
too challenging - just annoying!

Got my garden planted over the weekend. Technically a week too
early for NY but we've had such a mild winter and warm spring
I'm pretty sure I'm safe!

Welcome Steve to the net. And sorry about the missing HF port.
The radio there got "tired" and fizzled on me. I'll be shopping
for a new one now that it's hamfest season.

That's all for me. Everyone have a good week. 73

VA7RBP:

GE Daryl and all on the NET.

Another fun week. Appologies for showing up late, I was dealing
with an email about cancellation of a Regional Seasonal Hazard
Preparedness Workshop that was supposed to happen tomorrow, due
to actual Regional Seasonal Hazard events in progress...flooding
in the region. The river behind our place is coming up...

Scott, FB on Jackie's eyes healing nicely, and your J-pole antenna.

I received the new 30A MPPT Solar Charger and 2000W pure Sine Wave
Inverter on Thursday, the Solar charger is working nicely, and I
connected the inverter to my battery bank and plugged in a drill,
didn't hear any RFI on the radio, so it's working nicely as well.

I've been doing a bunch of reconfiguring on the Packet Node, trying
to get a PACTOR port going with the SCS PTCII USB, and also trying
to get VARA and a couple of UZ7HO HP Packet ports and rig control
working on a remote PC from the Raspberry Pi...my head hurts...

Yes, welcome aboard Steve! It's always good to see new callsigns on
here.

Let's see...last week started out with the temp up at 94F and sunny,
then we've had lots of rain and temps around 50F since.

Today hasn't been bad, I think it got up to 60F...and enough sun to
get the solar panels working.

I'm try to get my battery/solar stuff ready for Field Day next month.

OK, that's all I have for tonight. Everyone have a great week, stay
well, and 73 until next time. BTU Daryl...and thanks to Bob for
hosting the net.

K0WAV:

Well it was a mostly uneventful week, just yard and field work.
Now that the weather is turning off warmer, I am sure the Bermuda
grass will join in the "mower mania" hi hi

Ordered my Rohn 9H30 mast so hope to be back on air soon.

KF5JRV get my Diamond Tri-band in the air and see if I can sneak
over the ridge and make a contact with your station on 2m

BTW Scott (JRV) are you still doing the chainsaw thing?
and FB on the antenna work and Jackies continued healing.

When I get on air I will then need to start what Rick did with a
node PC reconfiguration to do both AXIP/ and RF thing... no PACTOR
but will be doing VARA HF and Packet and mayebe VHF VaraFM and
packet also.

Thanks for the info (JRV).

Just taking it day at a time and for this week focus is on staying
cool and avoiding T-Storms.

Thanks for host the net Bob and NCS Daryl. and Welcome Steve!

That is all for me everyone have a great week and see you here next
week.

W1DTX:

Greetings all. 1st time newbie using digi ( interactively ) on net.

Looks like my console is scrambling a few things but managing to copy.

Using Telnet over internet and doing ok so far. I believe I once
connected to Bob's station over HF several months ago, but wasn't able
to find any HF ports on the node recently. Also noticing that my
backspace key is not working. Will have to work out the bugs -hi.

I tried setting the QTH on the BBS but it didn't carry over. Will look
up the chat command for that one.

Thanks again for the welcome. I meant to mention the QTH last round.

Yes, Hancock, ME. across the bay from Bar Harbor on the coast. I can
see the bay from the upstairs windows. 94 degrees, wow, been a few
years since anything like that around here near the shore. We have
days where the records aren't that high -hi ( hi? ).

I'm just running telnet at the command prompt at a window on one of
my Linux laptops. I have an icon for Putty at the bottom of the screen
and will try that one next time.

Nice to 'meet' everyone and will look forward to another. 73.

Replies from WX4QZ:

Scott (JRV), fine business on Jackie's eyes healing and for the
planting. It looks like a good bet for rain and storms this week.

I used to use PUTTY when I was doing Net Control for the SE US
D-Star Weather Net, but I resigned off of that over 4 years ago,
and that net went QRT last year.

Bob, I hope your son recovers soon.

I know it's frustrating on the hotspot. On another net tonight,
one ham's hotspot kept resetting on him. I eventually need to
rebuild the registry on the Windows 11 laptop, but not until
the threat of thunderstorms ends for awhile. And, I think we
are done with frosts and freezes until later this year.

Rick, I heard reports of fires and evacuations in portions of
Canada...I want to say it was western Canada, but the location
escapes me. FB on the new electronics, and GL with working with
the packet node.

That 40 degree temperature drop is a shock!! We are heading
toward the summer solstice in about 6 weeks, so the daylight
hours will get longer until then. It's hard to believe that
Field Day is coming up...and Hamvention is next weekend.

Scott (WAV), with all the rain, the grass and weeds are in
a race to see which grows faster...maybe I should take bets
like with the Kentucky Derby (hi hi). But, with all the rain,
my lawn guy will fall behind schedule; yet, you can't mow wet
grass.

FB on the antennas...hope you can make the connection with
Scott (JRV).

Steve, welcome to the net...we're here every Monday at 8pm
Eastern Time, except during weeks of major US holidays.

I saw your location was Hancock, ME. Hope you can come back
and join us again next week.
