WX4QZ:

Another net holiday is coming up on Monday,
July 3...the PCL Net will not meet that night.

Sorry I missed the net the last 2 weeks, but
storms in the area, then erratic internet, kept
me QRT both weeks. With all the storms here
lately during the overnight hours, I'm way
behind on sleep. ADT checked the alarm system
today, as I had the second low battery deal
in less than 2 weeks, and I hadn't lost power
for more than a few minutes. At least the
voltage regulator checked out OK.

I'm going in for a Dexa Bone Density Scan on
Friday morning; I doubt they can do anything
for me, though. The pain in the left hip and
left knee is constant, and it's getting much
harder to walk. A nurse did a health care
assessment last week, and I hope to get some
help, financially and otherwise.

I have no plans for Field Day this weekend;
just the regular traffic net activities. I
will be cannibalistic...ordering several
lunch meat varieties of ham for sandwiches
(hi hi). I need a haircut real bad, but I
can't afford it...too many other bills.

I've been blessed to miss all of the bad
weather, including tornadoes, very large
hail, hurricane force winds, flooding rain,
and intense lightning. No damage here, but
many other areas weren't so lucky. Tropical
Storm Bret is east of the Antilles, and it
may affect them as a hurricane by late week.
It's too early to know if it'll affect the US.

I'll have to make a Post Office Box run by
July 1, to pick up the new General Class
exam books for my July 8 session, 3 weeks
from this Saturday. I guess the Christmas
In July Sales will start soon...time to prep
for next Easter (hi hi).

GE All.

A reasonably quiet week here - we finally got
a couple days of rain, so my yard is happier.

Old age and walking must not go together - a
couple weeks ago I strained a tendon in my
right foot - I limped around for about a week,
it finally got better - did the same thing to
my left foot yesterday! Can't win.

I like ham sandwiches! I really like meatball
sandwiches but another old age thing is sauce
no longer agrees with me so I have to go easy
on those!

I got my haircut yesterday - I was looking pretty
shaggy!

And I'm missing field day - for whatever reason
the IMSA races down at Watkins Glen are always
field day weekend - I'll be down there flagging
the Saturday races - I'm taking Sunday off to
recover! hihi another old age thing!

VA7RBP:

Good evening Daryl, and all on the NET.

It has been wet and chilly all week. The grass
was getting shaggy with all the rain, but I
managed to mow it in a lull in the weather.
Like you, we had a lot of thunderstorms over
the week, and I had to shut down and disconnect
antennas several times, and missed a few nets
as a result. Looks like we all are in sync with
the age related maladies.

My lower back got irritated a week and a half ago,
so it's slow going, no bike riding at the moment,
just slow walks up to the mailbox and back.

I worked on a few projects in the shack, and lent
some assistance to a couple of hams in SOCAL that
were trying to get a BPQ system going, and were
having trouble communicating.

HF has not been great. I'm also not going to be
doing Field Day this year, my laptop that I usually
use for FD crapped out, and I don't feel like
sleeping in the car with this back. Just going to
take it easy.

KN4LQN:

GE Daryl, Bob, Rick, Scott.

Another good week here, up at the county high spot
with the usual group

Installed some new HF equipment at the state EOC
over the weekend including a new scs p4 dragon.
Might have to change my setup..

Will be at Field Day to run a VE license exam session
and sure hope the ULS is back up by then

Have been exploring more in my BPQ set up and having
fun, hope all is well with the net.

K0WAV:

Good evening all... well week started ruff with some
storms and 50+ mph winds, all fine here but scary.

Now we have the heat well into 90's today so someone
found the Summer on Switch.

Got some testing in on my new "Random" wire antenna
so soon I should have HF back up and on the air.

BPQ is always fun, I was helping a CO station troubleshoot
his station with his new to him pactor box (old).

He was trying to get it to scan several freqs/bands for
both Pactor and Vara HF on a IC-7300, so fun fun LOL

FD is going to be a "mock" style FD for little club here
in Berryville, it is kinda on its last leg, like all of
here it it is kinda of aging out. and activities are
dropping to nill.

We plan to get together for FD and do some operating but
not going for points at all, just being social; but at
least we will be on the air hopefully.

Arm is healing from where I got tangled in the green briars
but other than that all is well here.

Replies from WX4QZ:

Bob, the grass is growing too much, but I can't afford
more than 1 mow per month.

I found the Hormel microwave meatloaf. Just put it in
its own container in the microwave for 3 minutes (don't
puncture the film), and it cooks a nice big piece of
meat loaf for sandwiches or with other stuff; but it can
aggravate the reflux!!

Rick, FB on helping the hams in SOCAL with their setup.
Bummer on the laptop going out. I need to rebuild the
registry on my Windows 11 laptop...again. If I knew
then what I know now, I never would've upgraded.

David, FB on the new HF equipment. They have no idea
when the FCC ULS will be back up, but the deal to get
the $35 fee is still working...guess they have to have
that money. And, FB on the BPQ setup.

Scott, the NWS reported an EF-2 tornado in NW AR on
Sunday morning, with both NWS Tulsa and Little Rock
warning of excessive heat. Advisories and warnings
are already out in OK, TX, LA, and MS. The summer
solstice is on Wednesday, then daylight hours get
shorter.

FB on the random wire antenna, GL on getting back
on HF...and FB on helping the CO station with his
BPQ setup. As for FD, best to just gather at a
restaurant, eat, and tell "lies" of "the contact
that got away" (hi hi).

Bummer on the green briar attack...hope you get
better soon.
