WX4QZ:

I didn't rest well last night, due to pain
and nightmares. Then, I had to finalize and
release a square dance publication earlier
today. With our state Fall Festival, and a
bunch of other dances, I had over 200 photos
in the e-Edition. The computer and website
were ornery, so that delayed me getting all
of it posted...but now, I can take a 3 week
break, although I'm doing very preliminary
work on the next issue. There's only one more
print edition to do by the middle of next
month, then it's all e-Edition...which will
mean less work and cost. I heard the Postal
Service is going to raise 1st class postage
to 68 cents, if not more, early next year.
I probably need to get more forever stamps.

The weather has been dry and cool here lately.
We could use some rain, but not much is forecast.
The winter weather outlooks from the National
Weather Service should be out soon (I haven't
heard about the wooly worms, but the persimmons
are huge!!). I've seen several outlooks noting
the northeast US will have a lot of snow!! Bob
(NY), better get that snowblower ready!! (hi hi).

I did nothing in regards to the eclipse last
weekend, and likely won't do anything with the
bigger one in my region next April (hotel rooms
in the "totality area" are charging $800 a night).
And, on the subject of "less daylight", the time
change back to Standard Time returns on Sunday,
Nov. 5, at 2am local time. Most net times won't
change, but those on UTC times, or originating in
areas that stay on Standard Time year round, will.
Our remaining net holidays for 2023 are Nov. 20
(Thanksgiving), then Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, for
Christmas and New Year's, respectively.

I'm to see the podiatrist on Wednesday, then an
orthopedic doctor Thursday. I'm looking at left
knee and hip replacement surgery soon,as it has
become very difficult to move around. I found a
doctor who'll do both, but obviously they don't
do them at the same time. The issues of cost,
care, rehab, and transportation, are all issues
for me. At least I was able to get a new PCP at
the same clinic...the one I had is hanging up his
stethoscope after 45 years.

I didn't do anything with the Simulated Emergency
Test, either. I'm on the air for my traffic nets,
and that's it. On a rare occasion, I might do a
sked (if one comes in), or check into other nets.
But otherwise, when I'm done with a net, I'm off
the air for the day. I may wait until Tuesday
morning to post the scribe, as the dry corneas are
acting up...plus the Tylenol caplets pain meds are
making me sleepy...I hope I can rest tonight. At
least I have plenty of groceries now, so I don't
have to order out the rest of the month...although
it was a nice change of pace to get stuff from both
Arby's and Little Caesar's Pizza.

Might have to swap computer keyboards soon...I've
been too violent with this one. The SPCK (Society
For Prevention Of Cruelty To Keyboards) has me on
their 10 most wanted list (hi hi).

KX4AC:

GE all,

Well, the meeting was mostly about the hamfest, and the
hamfest .... well, not so sure.

I popped in a bit on Friday, but really planned to get
up early on Saturday for a couple of forums, and then
do some shopping. I got up early on Saturday, had
breakfast, and drove out to the bank to get some cash;
and then the car would not start. Dead battery.

AAA took an hour and a half to get to me, so I missed
my forums. I took the car to the dealer (still under
warranty) and after waiting four hours they agreed with
the AAA guy that the battery was dead, and then told me
they did not have one. I guess my car uses some kind of
strange battery.

So, they did give me a loaner, but I missed pretty much
all of the hamfest. I finally did get my car back today,
LATE, but at least it did not cost me anything. Oh, well.

At least Sunday weather was good, so I could go for a nice
long walk. That was about the best part of my weekend.

Hopefully next week will be less eventful.

I do see that there is a "Pirate Festival" this weekend. I
guess it's like a Renaissance Faire, but with pirates. That
should be fun.

Nothing else right now. Best wishes all. Back to net.

NS2B:

GE All.

Another uneventful week.

Cleaned out the raised beds getting them ready for winter.

On the radio front our local Winlink node seems to be locked
up or has lost it's internet connection. I can connect to it,
but it's not processing any mail. I've sent the sysop for
that a P2P message.

Spent yesterday down at Watkins Glen International flagging
some sports cars. It could decide if it was going to be sunny
or rain. The track would dry out and then it would rain. That
happened at least 4 times. Fortunately sports car guys don't
really care. They race rain or shine.

Working on the clothes dryer now. One of the idler pulleys
has seized up. I have it about half apart - I'll have to
finish that after the net.

Nothing more here. Everyone have a good week!

KF5TVG:

This has been a strange week. I feel like I was busy the
whole time, but now can't scare up much to talk about. Hi Hi

I did work on organizing the shelves with my radio/shop stuff
on them. Decided to staple a neutral cloth across the back of
the shelves to hide the tangle of power cords, coax, etc.
Looks so nice my xyl made a positive comment about all the crap
on the shelves!

Nothing else. Thanks to you and Bob (NY) for all you do.

VA7RBP:

Good evening Daryl and all on NET.

I can't remember if I participated last week, or if I took Monday
off for our Thanksgiving...

Anyway, we had Thanksgiving dinner at our Daughter's place Sunday
before last, it was great, we got visit with our Granddaughters,
and the outlaws as well...

The rest of the week was spent fighting with learning "C"
programming, and fiddling about with my packet node. It's amazing
how time flies when you are working on something.

I got a lot of fall chores done, final cutting of the lawn, blowing
out the sprinkler lines, cleaning the eaves...

No snow yet, but it's coming, the high passes are getting traces.

We had to go to COSTCO in Kelowna last Wednesday, it's the nearest
one, 8 hour drive round trip.

The day before I had my COVID and FLU shots and had a headache the
whole trip...dumb..

Ha, Charlies chicken lips were pretty big...

I guess that's all I have for tonight, so everyone have a great week,
stay well, 73 until next time. Thanks Bob and Daryl!

**

K0WAV:

It was a busy week lots of chores.

I will be short. I am on Working with some guys online ATM to help
them to learn Packet Radio.

**

KF5JRV:

It has been a good week. The temp has been ideal

The eclipse was a bust. Managed to look directly at the sun a few
times through the clouds.

Getting the raised beds ready for winter. Suppose to be 38 for a
low tonight.

I must have timed out. Just hope eveyone has a good week.

**

NT5R:

Ok will keep it short.

Sedalia Missouri hamfest Saturday, good time.

$5 admission one drawing ticket, purchased another for $1 more
Won prizes on both tickets.

12 Amp hour Bioenno LiPo battery with charger Plus other stuff.

Local ham said should stop and buy lottery ticket on way home.
So fun fun.

Today clear plastic over part of garden. No frost yet but getting
close.

Replies from WX4QZ:

Carl, bummer on the car and battery issues, and that you missed
the hamfest. At least it didn't cost you anything except your
time, but at least you weren't in a wreck, and got hurt or
killed.

FB on the Pirate Festival...have fun with it.

Bob (NY), bummer on the Winlink and clothes dryer issues. Hope
you can get both fixed soon.

That sounds typical on the weather...doesn't know whether to
be sunny or to rain.

Thanks for providing the BBS for us.

Bob (OK), got to keep the XYL happy. Hope she's doing better
in her recovery from surgery.

Rick, you did take last week off. Glad you enjoyed the family
time and the food, and the outlaws (hi hi).

The time flies when you're doing something you enjoy. Otherwise,
it just drags.

That's too long a round trip for COSTCO. With the rising gas
prices, I'm sure it cost quite a bit.

I got my flu shot last month, but I'm not going to get another
Covid-19 shot...not after the bad reaction I had after the 3rd
booster a year ago.

I noticed that too on Charlie's "big chicken lips".

Scott (WAV), thanks for stopping by just to say "howdy", even
though you were working on another project...hope you can get
them into packet radio, and to join us.

Scott (JRV), I think the heat advisories are gone. I did see
a frost advisory posted for northwest Arkansas overnight.

The eclipse in Arkansas next April will be much "better".

No worries about the timing out. Tell Miss Jackie we said "hi".

Charley, FB on the hamfest, and winning stuff on just 2 prize
tickets. You had better luck than I normally do!! You might
as well give the lottery tickets a try...it only takes 1 to
win.

As I told Scott, there's a frost advisory for northwest
Arkansas overnight.
