?Hi JoAnne and Joe!

I didn't hear the satellite's messages during a pass over the
southwestern USA this morning, just before 1200 UTC (8am EDT,
or 5am PDT). Near the end of the pass, just after 1200 UTC, I
did hear a carrier on 145.800 MHz for a couple of instances.
No audio, but a carrier - like something was keying the input
of the cross-band repeater on the TM-D710G. Maybe the batteries
in the satellite are exhausted, and need a recharge. Or we'll
have to wait for the other satellite to be activated, possibly
tomorrow if the schedule holds.

73!

Patrick,
I also didn't anything on this morning's pass, I gave it up aboutv2 minutes
before LOS, so if there was a carrier, I didn't hear it.

I tried again on the 1825ut pass. Again nothing from Tabitha, but I did hear
some voices in the noise, but couldn't make anything out. Apparently it was
turned on again just after that pass.

I'll try for tanyusha 2 tomorrow..

Livestreaming SO-50 to 200 people! Part 1

https://youtu.be/OHoNxaEt0Yg

This is a satellite demo I did on Facebook Live. Part 2 is me after
the demo explaining/showing my setup, sharing lots of general
satellite info, and doing Q&A with the livestream participants. More
details below.

Part 2 - https://youtu.be/pU-MeObucwU

This is a recording of a Facebook livestream I did of a Friday night
SO-50 pass (2017-06-03 0100 UTC). QRZ Now, which has 180k followers on
Facebook, shared it to their page and the livestream consequently
reached 189 viewers simultaneously.

Also, SO-50 had a max elevation of 80 degrees for me in Cary, North
Carolina, almost straight up, and since it was right over the east
coast of the United States (the most populated part of the U.S.), It
was a busy and exciting pass.

Thanks to all the stations who contacted me or tried to contact me:

Howdy all,

In case anyone was looking for one of these gems, there's a E4406A w/ the
baseband inputs on eBay for an amazing price.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Agilent-E4406A-VSA-Series-Transmitter-Tester-7-MHz-4-0
-GHz-Opts-210-BAF/302374556296

I suspect this unit is in perfect shape, judging from the displays pictured.
If anything, the input RF connector (N) might have some damage which is not
obvious, but that's easily replaced.

I snapped up the first one. :-)

Hello bird peoples,

I'll be venturing to HP74 in the morning (Friday 7/7). This grid has only a
tiny sliver of land in it. My must-work passes are:

1208Z FO-29
1313Z SO-50
1358Z FO-29

Planning a fixed transmit of 145.940 on FO-29. In case of QRM (lids, EO-88
beacon, etc), I'll plan to move down.

When FO-29 goes to polar bear country on the early pass I may QSY to AO-7
if I'm not getting any more customers. AO-7 of course needs to be in mode B
or C (overhead pass in EU, who knows), but it has good footprint to the US,
but the QSY assumes I'm not working anyone further on FO-29.

There are some other passes on various birds while I am there, I may get on
randomly or can get on by request. There are some good looking SO-50 passes
later which will cover most of the Eastern US and Europe that I will plan
to be on, although I cannot guarantee grid (likely not HP74, probably 84 or
maybe 94).

With that being said, it is a three hour drive to the HP74 in the morning
and I need to get a bit of sleep for this one. I'm gonna go ahead and call
it QRT for the day. To those on the west coast who still haven't worked me,
I'll get on more of the late-night western passes in the coming days. Find
a decent horizon, seriously. You have a rover in TF who can work the
horizon and I happen to be here during apogee season, this is a rare
opportunity to work Europe from the North American west coast, try not to
keep blowing it.

As far as future plans for the trip, I am looking to get back to HP93 and
hopefully IP03 (maybe IP04 also). Possibly a grid line (dare I say, a
corner). I'll try to get on some NA bound passes from these, possibly even
FO-29 on Saturday morning.

Hope to see everyone from these rare grids and from OY/OX next week!

73 and keep the power down,

Gabe
NJ7H

Hello, AMSAT enthusiasts!

Bryan KL7CN/W6 here -- I am very close to attaining WAS (Worked All States)
in ARRL's LotW (Log of the World)!

I need only 4 states: Connecticut, Missouri, Mississippi, and Rhode Island.

Would any active LotW-using satellite operators mind helping me out?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi folks,

AO73/FUNcube is now in amateur mode for the weekend with the transponder on!
Plan as usual is to revert to auto switching mode on Sunday PM.

Please see below for all FUNcube mission info

73s Jim G3WGM and the FUNcube team.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
FUNcube frequencies and other details
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

AO-73 FUNcube-1

The transponder is normally operational only when the satellite is in
eclipse, ie the solar panels are NOT being illuminated. During weekends
(from pm Fridays UTC to PM Sundays UTC) the transponder is operational 24/7.

When the transponder is switched off, the telemetry beacon is on full power,
when the transponder is on the beacon it is on low power. During holidays,
eg Christmas, New Year, Easter, etc, the transponder maybe activated for
extended periods. Watch AMSAT-BB for announcements which are usually made on
Friday evenings (UTC)

The nominal transponder frequencies are:

Uplink: 435.150 - 435.130 MHz LSB (Inverting)
Downlink: 145.950 - 145.970 MHz USB
Telemetry Tx: 145.935 MHz BPSK

(The passband may be up to 15kHz higher depending on on-board temps. Lower
temperatures give higher freqs!)

FUNcube-2 (aka FUNcube on UKube)

The FUNcube-2 sub-system continues to operate autonomously and, almost
continuously, in amateur mode. The transponder is operational and the
telemetry downlink is functioning with about 70mW output. The FUNcube-1
Dashboard does not correctly display the telemetry but it does correctly
decode the data and uploads it to the FUNcube Data Warehouse from where it
can be examined. Most of the real time data channels are operational and
these include battery voltages, temperatures and ADCS data coming via the
main On Board Computer (OBC).

The transponder is interrupted for a few seconds every 2 minutes when the
other transmitter sends its CW beacon and, occasionally, for a few seconds
when the main OBC reboots (approx seven times each orbit).

The nominal transponder frequencies are:
Uplink: 435.080 - 435.060 MHz LSB (Inverting)
Downlink: 145.930 - 145.950 MHz USB
Telemetry Tx: 145.915 MHz BPSK

(The passband may be up to 10kHz higher depending on on-board temps. Low
temperatures give higher freqs!)

EO79 FUNcube-3
Due to power budget constraints the transponder cannot be operational 24/7
and an orbit specific schedule has been developed. The transponder will
commence operation 27 minutes after the spacecraft enters sunlight and will
stay on for a period of 25 minutes. This schedule may be modified in future
months as a result of experience.

The nominal transponder frequencies are:
Uplink: 435.0723-435.0473 MHz LSB (Inverting)
Downlink: 145.946-145.971 MHz USB

Further detailed info on EO79 transponder frequencies is at:
https://amsat-uk.org/2016/11/10/eo79-funcube-3-transponder-commences-regular-o
peration/

EO88/Nayif-1/FUNcube-5

EO88 is presently operating in autonomous mode. The transponder is
operational when the satellite is in eclipse, ie the solar panels are NOT
being illuminated.
When the transponder is switched off, the telemetry beacon is on full power,
when the transponder is on the beacon it is on low power.
The transponder frequencies are:

Uplink: 435.045 ? 435.015 MHz LSB (inverting)
Downlink: 145.960-145.990 MHz USB
Telemetry Tx: 145.940MHz

All FUNcube transponders are sponsored by AMSAT-UK and AMSAT-NL. We are very
grateful for the assistance given by Innovative Solution In Space Bv, The
Netherlands.

Ryan,

What 6 are you referring to? ? The three are SO-50, AO-85 and Lilactsat-2
(rarely active).

IO-86 has an FM transponder, but it's equatorial orbit is unacscesable from
the US. EO-80 will most likely never be activated, for reasons I don?t
recall, I'm sure someone will fill in that blank. The only other one I can
think of is the ISS, whose repeater is again very rarely active and then
usually when the downlink is available for other uses (as was the case when
they tested the Russian satellites earlier this week.)

I count 6 on the page referenced above?

There were several more that are inoperable now.
