About ARISS:

Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) is a cooperative
venture of international amateur radio societies and the space agencies that
support the International Space Station (ISS). In the United States,
sponsors are the Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation (AMSAT), the American
Radio Relay League (ARRL), the Center for the Advancement of Science in
Space (CASIS) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
The primary goal of ARISS is to promote exploration of science, technology,
engineering, and mathematics (STEM) topics by organizing scheduled contacts
via amateur radio between crew members aboard the ISS and students in
classrooms or informal education venues. With the help of experienced
amateur radio volunteers, ISS crews speak directly with large audiences in a
variety of public forums. Before and during these radio contacts, students,
teachers, parents, and communities learn about space, space technologies,
and amateur radio. For more informa

Tony,

WiSP will work with a KISS TNC (NONE) but you will need to configure it
manually. Things like full duplex, 9600 baud, the monitor function, etc. I
know of one other person who has been trying to get that to work, but so far
has not had success. Perhaps someone here who uses a hardware TNC rather
than software can give you a list of parameters to set?

Jamboree on the Air is this weekend and I am sure there are going to be a
number of operators on Satellite in support of various Scout organizations
all over North America. If you have not already, find one near you and
volunteer your services to introduce our fun and challenging aspect of
Amateur Radio to some youngsters (and adult leaders alike).

Personally I will be in support of Circle Ten Council in Dallas EM12, with a
JOTA activation in support of a new branch of BSA called STEM Scouts. Our
group will be using borrowed call N5BSA and running a limited schedule from
1500-1900Z on October 21. Look for us and give a shout if you do.

I know about the PIEXX unit, but it is fairly pricey and has
capabilities far beyond my needs.
I have heard that several people were working on clones, but I can
locate nothing about them online.
Ideas?

I was able to hear my voice through CAS-4A and 4B transponders tonight
under one degree of elevation using ~5 watts into 10' of LMR-240uf and
a 4 element 70cm / 2 element 2m "Short Arrow" yagi. Very easy
satellite to work with minimal power.
