Problem is solved! A friend and "elmer" who got me started in with sats
years ago has one he took off when he changed to polarity switching.

Hi All,

It seems the transponder on CAS-4A is down.? CW beacon is ok though.

Does anyone know if it is possible to output a serial port signal when a
satellite is in view.

I would like to switch an external relay circuit when a particular
satellite is in view.

Joe,
I have often wondered what some of the option offered under Radio Setup in
SatPC32 mean.
Must admit I have not read the manual as I have not required anything out of
the ordinary.
Just looking at the Radio Setup there is a RTS+12V selection that may or may
not suit your requirements.
Erich DK1TB the author of Satpc32 does monitor this site and he will no
doubt offer a more positive answer.

My apologies, but I have had to release a quick update to FoxTelem. If you
already grabbed Version 1.05w in preparation for RadFxSat, then you should
apply the patch. This will upgrade you to 1.05x.

This patch fixes the following bugs with v1.05w or earlier 1.05 releases:
* When two spacecraft are tracked and "When Above Horizon" is set to start
and stop the decoder, the decoder NEVER starts.
* If the matched filter is selected for DUV then FoxTelem crashes
* When a spacecraft is being decoded, the position is not updated on the
screen
* When the decoders is automatically stopped/started, then the FunCube
Dongle becomes disconnected

To apply this patch simply copy the jar file into your Version 1.05
installation directory and overwrite the existing file.

If you are running FoxTelem Version 1.04f or earlier, you should install
the full
release for Version 1.05x

The files are here:

http://amsat.us/FoxTelem/linux/

Thanks for your suggestion on using the Arduino Andrew, but at this stage I
am exploring if the actual program can do this function. May look at that
option later if required.

Colin I think you may be onto it there, I know I spoke to some others about
doing this but just cannot recall it.

I think a change needs to be done in one of the configuration files.

I have tried activating the RTS+ 12V function and I do get a constant
output voltage on the serial pin, I need it to stay low then switch high
when sat in view.

We will keep exploring and thanks again.

Good suggestion Roger, will keep that one in mine.

My original plan was to build a timer circuit that would stay on for a few
minutes and use the voltage that activates the rotator motors as a trigger.

Hello Richard,

Perhaps you can try the visual basic sources of wispdde made by CX1DD
available at:

http://ok1dx.cz/constructions/avrot/wispdde/wispdde.zip

It's well commented, I compiled under vbasic 2008 and it works.

I do use wispdde along with http://amsat.org.ar/pass.exe

Hello Dany,

Try perhaps to check if your results match others tracking applications.

I do use http://amsat.org.ar/pass or http://amsat.org.ar/pass.exe with
wispdde driver or HDSDR.

Using last 2 combinations, I follow LO-19 constant carrier receiving CW and
software follows right on frequency, using either an FT-736 or FT-897.

To calculate Xmt & Rcv Dopplers, I take into account instant satellite
velocity related to user ground station, always using the latest TLEs.

We can share formulas to calculate both Dopplers if that helps.
