Yes Patrick, To clarify I have used both the DXPatrol and FCDPro+ but in RX
duties only thus far. I am configuring a tracking panadapter on my RX side,
so I will look for degradation when TXing. My progress/experiments have been
delayed due to flu and weather.
I find the DXPatrol to be better performing than a generic RTL dongle, of
which I have several. Even the FCDPro+ suffers from front-end overload in my
location unless I use an FM BCB filter in front.
I also intend to use a duplexer unit in front of the SDR if 2M overload is
experienced.

Hi all.
I've returned from a break over Christmas and noticed the signal level on my
fox-tlm screen has dropped.
I've also noticed that the various parameters for the dongle include LNA
and Mixer gain along with IF bandwidth of 200kHz
However, there is also a box that says RF filter and that is set to 0-4MHz.
I can't see anyway to change the RF filter setting ! I assume this should
be 2m to select the internal SAW filter.
Any idea where I can start looking?

Oh yes...the FCDPP is the "standard" SDR that FoxTelem folks use. Tell us
more---you have a "strong signal". Does that mean you have a nice "hump"
on the FFT (bottom) line? Are the "demodulation bars" surrounding it? Do
you have an eye pattern in the right box? Two thoughts: 1) It is not as
strong as you think and you need to check LNA or IF Amplification. 2)
Although you can see the signal with you own eyes, FoxTelem is not looking
at the right frequency. Be sure that under "spacecraft" and either AO-85
or AO-91 the nominal, min, and max frequencies are ok. Nominal should be
145980 for AO85, 145960 for AO-91. Min and max should be 10Khz below and
above that.
Oh, and what version of FoxTelem do you have? Older versions might not
recognize AO-91.

see anyone who is successfully controlling them with software such as
satpc32. I believe the FunCube Dongle can be controlled by satpc32.

Hello David!
From time to time with the FCDPP I find this helpful to do if something is
going "wrong":
exit FoxTLM
unplug/plug in FCDPP
followed by launching FCHID2.002.exe then resetting to default values, then
setting the frequency to the "center" frequency I want to use with FoxTLM
followed by launching FoxTLM
That fixes about anything "weird" I've seen! Give that a go.

It's not about the receiver, it's about the software used with the
receiver. HDSDR and Gqrx can both be controlled by external programs.
I have made a couple of QSOs using computer control with Gqrx,
Gpredict, a FUNcube Dongle Pro+, and an FT-817. I know others have
used HDSDR with SatPC32 successfully.

Actually...if you use SDR#, there is a plugin that will use frequency data
out of SatPC32 (via DDE) that will change the frequency of a number of SDR
units...it will change the frequency, set the mode and filter width, etc. so
automated changing of satellites is very doable.
I've done this successfully with:
FCDP
FCDPP
Airspy
Airspy Mini
RTL based dongles
HDSDR is another good program that will let you do similarly. Somehow I've
settled on SDR#...
If you become a telemetry nut, you'll also learn to appreciate what I call
"native support" of the FCDPP in programs like Funcube Dashboard and FoxTLM.
They actually take control of the dongle and you don't need to use
something like SDR#/plugin.
There are lots of ways to skin that cat!

Right. That?s what I meant to say as I Too have gotten satpc32 and HDSDR to
work nicely with FCDPP. I didn?t realize that DDE would work with the other
