Peter,
I have been told the same thing about HRD, however nobody has ever given me
precise explanations on what the 'odd quirks' are.
I have used It for controlling my radios Doppler correction in the past and
it's rock solid. It's just a predefined formula that runs. The same formula
that is used by all Doppler tracking programs.
The only drawback that I ran into was having no real way to adjust the
Doppler tuning on the fly like you can with SatPC32. It has a tic-box to
enable manual tuning during Doppler correction but it doesn't work. Without
this feature it is literally impossible to use on the linear birds. Getting
this fixed would be a giant leap forward in making it a viable satellite
application.

HRD has always tracked a satellite in the sense of rotator pointing
beyond that, however, it's got/had some really odd quirks.

Before I gave up I used it on FM satellites but for automated control
when using linear it was just unusable.

If there's been some sudden correction recently Mike then do let us know.

Hi Mike, since I literally dragged you to this board, there are some things
you will learn about this group. First, there is a lot of embedded (and
IMHO, irrational) bias about the HRD Sat program that, as happens in human
nature, just goes back to the urban legend status. Some folks are entrenched
and there is no hope of changing that bias. There are new users that will
take you at your word that you are working on the program and will be
patient. Another category are folks that tried the program 6-7 years ago and
have made the call that 'it just does not 'work'"...they can't tell you why
or provide much useful input, "it just don't work because someone told me
that 3 years ago". Another related category are the folks Rick pissed off.
(enough said about the departed)

So you challenge will be to find that new developer and as far as this
resource, elicit some useful input from folks that are willing to use the
program and provide some objective information to correct the issues.

With that said, my view is that the issue primarily applies to the use of
linear sats. I believe the program tracks the LEOS and the doppler
correction makes the program useful. Whether or not it is spot on, is over
my paygrade. I just know that I got my VUCC using HRD about 95% of the time
and on LEO sats. As I have said before, run the HRD sat program side by
side. The glaring diff I have seen is in altitude, not el or az. But, again
above my no-code paygrade.

So, bottom line with this Group...be patient. Most of them have forgotten
your post of a couple of days ago outlining your commitment to resolve the
software issues. I believe in your commitment. Some will complain if they
were hung with a new rope...

So, hang in there and keep asking specifics from the Group. I'm confident
you can get it handled.

I understand one can't use traditional "Keps" for objects in a Solar

Have all, except the income. My Roadster is safely in the garage, but
it's looking longingly skyward toward its cousin. Just wondering where
to point.

Great quote from Musk:

"I had this image of a giant explosion on the pad with a wheel bouncing down
the road with the Tesla logo landing somewhere," he said. "Fortunately that
is not what happened."

Perhaps not the most important event, but watching two rockets LAND in
formation like something out of a 1950s B movie was something I never
expected to see!

All,

Object 43199 has apparently been identified as Shaonian Xing (Youth Sat).
So the unknown satellite that identifies itself as MXSAT-1 is actually the
student satellite Shaonian Xing. It also means this satellite does not
transmit
on its coordinated frequencies. Let's wait and see if its FM repeater
will be
activated and on which frequencies it will operate.

<snip.

I agree. That was an impressive sight, particularly since it appeared
that they both touched down at the same time.

As far as I know, there has been no actual confirmation from anyone
that "Shaonian Xing" is one of the 7 coordinated Juvenile series
satellites. It's all been supposition based on the name.

True, it could be another satellite. It's not easy to interpret the
limited information that has been published on this satellite,
like on this page:
https://gbtimes.com/china-launches-seismo-electromagnetic-probe-along-with-esa
-danish-and-commercial-cubesats

Unfortunately the Chinese supply only very limited information
on their satellites.
