I will be working the Sept 12 7:39 pm EST (Sept 13 00:39Z) pass of FO-29
(that's all that's passing over during the Scout meeting) with Troop 287.
I'm giving them an intro to the Radio Merit Badge and was going to do a
satellite demo. It's a bit of a low pass and over the Atlantic at that, but
we will be listening and hopefully make a QSO.

Thanks,

Robert Bond - KM4YSC

I am trying to run FoxTelem on a Mac without success currently. I would very
much like to contribute to the telemetry warehouse.

Using an Icom 910 with iMac running Sierra.

Is there anyone on the list that is achieving this successfully who could
give me a few pointers, perhaps of list would be best?

Many thanks

Hi,

We had a short outage this morning between 10:00 - 11:00 UTC.

There was fault with the web application running out of resources, we have
been running without a break for some time :-)

Server restarted and dashboards are sending their backlog and of course
scores are being updated (realtime providers may look a bit strange as the
warehouse collects out of sequence packets from users)

Mac,

Ask the person realizing the repair to check Q42 and Q43 (RN2425) in the
main unit. Many IC-821H presented a problem with low power, including mine.
The problem is normally due to a partial damage of Q42 and/or Q43
transistors in the power control circuits (for both VHF and UHF). It is
advisable to replace both transistors by a part that can tolerate higher
power levels. A p-channel switching mosfet can do the job.

Can you say more about the problems you are having? I regularly test
FoxTelem on a Mac, but generally to download telemetry from the server, and
not to collect data directly off the air. What version of FoxTelem and
what symptoms are you having?

The Kenwood TH-D74 does have audible readout which may be helpful for those
with visual impairments if they are looking for a hand held radio, but its
not full duplex but will allow reception of the transponder satellites given
its SSB RX capabilities. The Kenwood TS-2000 may however be the best overall
option available today.?

Hi,

It looks like we are experiencing some problems with the database
connectivity associated with the warehouse.

You may experience some short outages as I fix it over the next few hours.

John,

To my humble and first opinion (having made only one QSO with ZS2BK) the
L-Band mode is as good as the U/V mode, a superb bird and congratulations to
the project team.

This part of the world we have

Really amazing, hopefully it will be switched on L-band mode every week so
that we may experiment more and it will encourage the community to move of
higher/microwave frequencies which is quite challenging for most of us but
with so much rewarding experience.

I really encourage you to be in the club, just a transverter needed that you
may build yourself or buy off the shelf.
