I have been trying to bounce packet off of pcsat ( and iss when service?
returns )put need help with setting up the text setup files for pcsat32 and
the kenwood ts-2000I can edit the doppler file to add the 2m downlink but
the radio's 'sat mode' isn't liking split vfo with thesame band uplink on
the right side of the radio..??this should come together better with the
built in TNC of the radio etc...is anyone doing this now I could use some
tips , or a URL to the set up please.
Also is there a simple way to add a dummy satellite? for 2m ssb calling
frequency and/or the local beaconetc.. I would like to be able to click
something and have the radio swing over to 144.2 or 144.293 and point at the
beaconto check out the system with out changing software , getting it to
track the moon might be nice also.when ever i run wsjt-x a complete cold
reboot seems to be the only way to make satpc32 start talkingto the com port
the ts2000 is on.much thanks , direct replies off? list would be better brad

You have to use SatPC32ISS. "SatPC32ISS.Exe (in the following
SatPCISS) is a special version of SatPC32 for radio amateur operation
via the ISS. The program provides "In-Band" frequency control with
several radios. While "normal" amateur satellites use different bands
for uplink and downlink both frequencies of the ISS are in the 2m
band. The "normal" SatPC32 switches the radios into satellite mode to
allow full duplex operation (transmitting and receiving at the same
time). Therefore uplink and downlink must be in different bands."

* Brad WF7T created this tutorial

Brad, WF7T and I started this wiki. The purpose is to document answers
to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) across the various forums like
amsat-bb, the AMSAT-NA Facebook group, twitter, QRZ.com forums, etc.
How-Tos are also acceptable. The goal is not to be a comprehensive
source of amateur satellite information (especially not lists of all
the sats, as that info is on many other sources), just to supplement
what is already out there and provide a place to collect commonly
requested information. More information on the intention/philosophy of
the wiki can be found here:
http://sats.wikidot.com/about

If you want to add stuff or edit the wiki, please create an account on
wikidot and let me or Brad know your username/email address and we can
add you.

On the To-Do list [1] I have a goal to make a new page with a list of
full duplex HTs. I know a list of these HTs already is on the web but
I don't believe it's updated. I also know Patrick, WD9EWK has a lot of
detailed info on various Chinese radios. All of this could be
summarized and updated as new HTs come out. If you want to start it
"that would be great." ;-)

The ADIF file must contain the PROP_MODE set to "SAT". If it isn't there
it won't count as a satellite QSO and you will get no confirmations.
Also, SAT_NAME must be as TQSL has defined the satellite name or else it
won't upload.

Here is what our QSO looks like as I uploaded it to LOTW:

<Call:5>K4MIA
<QSO_Date:8>20180430
<Time_On:6>030900
<Band:4>70CM
<Mode:2>FM
<OPERATOR:4>NR0T
<Prop_Mode:3>SAT
<RST_Sent:2>59
<RST_Rcvd:2>59
<SAT_NAME:5>AO-92
<eor>

You may have more than that, depending on the software you use.
Send me what you have for a QSO and I will take a look at it.
Note that the number after the field name indicates how many characters are
in the data field.

So <Time_On:6> means that you are sending six characters for time: 030900
If you had <Time_On:4> , then the time would be passed as 0309
Note that your callsign and location info are defined in TQSL and not in
the ADIF file. I believe that <OPERATOR:4>NR0T is optional.

Hi Mike, there is also a 'propagation' tab in the logbook, when you are
entering an contact.. It has a drop down for 'satellite'

And the sat name needs to be entered as AO-92, for example, not ao92

And, you are UPLOADING to LoTW...you can use the tab at the top of the log
screen to upload right after you work someone and make the entry

You can always go to your HRD logbook, click on an entry and fix any issues

International Space Station Astronauts are Calling CQ Students (corrected)

???????????? ??ARISS-US program education proposal deadline is April 30, 2018

?

March 15, 2018:? The Amateur Radio on the International Space Station
(ARISS) program is seeking proposals from US schools, museums, science
centers and community youth organizations (working individually or together)
to host radio contacts with an orbiting crew member aboard the International
Space Station (ISS) between January 1 and June 30, 2019.

?

Each year, ARISS provides tens of thousands of students with opportunities
to learn about space technologies and communications through the exploration
of Amateur Radio.? The program provides learning opportunities by connecting
students to astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) through
a partnership between NASA, the Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation, the
American Radio Relay League, and other Amateur Radio organizations and
worldwide space agencies. The program?s goal is to inspire students to
pursue interests and careers in science, technology, engineering and
mathematics (STEM) and Amateur Radio. A ham recently said, ?ARISS shows how
Amateur Radio is the most unique hobby/service there is.?

?

Educators overwhelmingly report that student participation in the ARISS
program stimulates interest in STEM subjects and in STEM careers. One
educator wrote, ?It exceeded our expectations--it created a great interest
in both amateur radio and in space exploration. Our kids are completely
inspired!? Ninety-two percent of educators who have participated in the
program have indicated that ARISS provided ideas for encouraging student
exploration and participation. An educator even joined the ham ranks,
saying, ?This chance for our school?s ARISS contact helped me see the great
value of the ham world.? I just passed my Technician License this weekend
and have already signed up to take a General class.?? ?

ARISS is looking for organizations that will draw large numbers of
participants and integrate the contact into a well-developed, exciting
education plan. Students can learn about satellite communications, wireless
technology, science research conducted on the ISS, radio science, and any
related STEM subject. Students learn to use Amateur Radio to talk directly
to an astronaut and ask their STEM-related questions. ARISS will help
educational organizations locate Amateur Radio groups who can assist with
equipment for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for students.

The proposal deadline for 2019 contacts is April 30, 2018. Proposal webinars
for guidance and getting questions answers will be offered March 29, 2018,
at 7 p.m. EDT and April 16, 2018, at 4 p.m. EDT. Advance registration is
necessary. To sign up, go to
https://ariss-proposal-webinar-spring-2018.eventbrite.com

For more details such as expectations, proposal guidelines and the proposal
form, visit: http://www.ariss.org/hosting-an-ariss-contact-in-the-us.html

?

******************************************************************************

ARISS is always glad to receive listener reports for the above contacts.?
ARISS thanks everyone in advance for their assistance.? Feel free to send
your reports to aj9n@?????.??? or aj9n@???.???.

?

Listen for the ISS on the downlink of 145.8? MHz.

?

All ARISS contacts are made via the Kenwood radio unless otherwise noted.
