Clint,
I have been working satellites since Oscar 6, when I was in high school.
Worked STS-9 (Owen Garriott, Spacehab-1) when I was in graduate college.

No need for education or evangelizing.

Any stereo recorder would allow two inputs, L & R.

Have fun!

Hi folks,

Is there any one that uses the Kenwood TS-2000 and Wisp

Using the internal TNC to RX/TX on Falconsat-3?

I cannot get success. I can RX but cannot TX since there is the signal.

Please can somebody give me the correct settings.

Actually I have the following settings in the radio:

Menu 46 SUB

Menu 47 9600Bps

Menu 48 TNC BAND

Menu 55 On

On the main band I have set the TX frequency 145.840 FM for the Uplink and

On the Sub Band the RX Frequency 435.103 FM for the Downlink.

The PTT is set on the maid band.

When the MSPE program starts, I can see the STA and CON LEDs flashing for
three times

That indicates the radio is gone in kiss mode.

I can see the data coming in, but when I go to request the directory or a
message the radio does not

Go in TX since there is no signal on the SUB band but it TX on the SUB Band
instead to TX on the Main one.

Vice versa if while I am receiving, I go to request the directory or a
message the radio does not go in TX since there is no signal on the SUB
band,

But if I entry in the menu 46 and change for a second from SUB to MAIN the
radio goes TX and it goes on the correct Band the Main

Which is set for the Uplink then I have to switch back the Menu 46 from MAIN
to SUB again otherwise I will not get anymore the incoming data.

Please what am I doing wrong or which settings is wrong in the radio?

Please any help will be really appreciated.

John, I'm having a hard time finding a channel splitter on Amazon. Do
you happen to have a brand name or possibly a URL link to the one that's
working for you? Thanks!

John, I think your solution might work and would be simple - a
noise-cancelling lapel microphone would be ideal - unless the radio audio
out and the microphone sharing a common ground leads to RFI issues. A lot
easier than bringing a portable mixer into the field! Audacity is a fabulous
program which I use to pre-process SSTV audio data among other things.

Thanks to all for the suggestions!

For me I plug my headphones into the recorder to monitor the radio so I
would have to splice the left channel to both right and left so I didn't
have my external mic audio in one ear and the radio in the other.

One reason I want to do this is because it will make transcribing QSOs from
the recording easier. Just open the waveform in Audacity or another similar
app and you can see anytime you talk on the local mic. Skip there and
transcribe the contact. Otherwise for me at least I end up having to listen
through a lot/most of the recording trying to find myself.
