 Mark,

The document does not define the complete set of conditions under which a
given packet type could be transmitted. To be fair, that was not the
document's intent.?The combination of the document and your operational
experience together tells the story adequately for my purposes (as an
amateur operator, not as a professional systems engineer for
high-reliability space systems), but the document does not do so by itself.?

Hi OMs,

The test for DSLWP-B UHF is now scheduled from 2 Jun 22:00 UTC to 2 Jun
23:50 UTC, and from 3 Jun 02:30 UTC to 3 Jun 03:30 UTC.

We will change the mode of the transmitters to 250 bps GMSK and JT4G on
435.4 MHz (GMSK every 5 min, JT4G every 10 min, JT4G has higher priority),
and 250 bps GMSK on 436.4 MHz (every 5 min). Corresponding demod grcs should
be used.

We upload some updates for gr-dslwp: https://github.com/bg2bhc/gr-dslwp

Tracking file updates can be found on: https://github.com/bg2bhc/dslwp_doc
or http://lilacsat.hit.edu.cn/tle/program_tracking_dslwp-b.txt

Yes, I'm looking forward to it, however, although the satellite may be
ready there's still been no word on a possible launch.

Butch, satellite operation can be daunting. There is a TON of information
out there however. Let me suggest a couple of resources:

Start here -->  https://www.amsat.org/station-and-operating-hints/

Also, look into getting this book -->
https://www.amsat.org/product/2018-edition-of-getting-started-with-amateur-sat
ellites/

You didn't say what aspect of Sat operation you are interested in, or the
scope of the middle school ground station, but there is plenty of good
starter info above.

As to the quality of information on this EMAIL reflector, it is what it is.
This is NOT a threaded BBS, it is an email service. As to the storehouse of
info, you can peruse the amsat-bb archives which I find quite helpful.
There is quite a lot of info on Social Media as well. My suggestion is to
review the link above, and ask your questions here and your social media of
choice in order to further your knowledge.

I am an old ham but new to satellite operations and I?m building a ground
station for a local middle school.

I fully support AMSAT and this BBS. I have been on this BBS for a few
months now looking for information that I could use. I?ve gotten good
responses to my specific questions, but as a resource for newbies, I find
it lacking. This BBS seems to me more of a ?chat line? than a store house
of knowledge.

I would like to suggest that AMSAT create a forum that keeps up to date
info on specific subjects such as active satellites, specific satellites
(and their quirks), basic info for newbies, product reviews, volunteer
Elmers, homebrew projects, buy/sell/trade, etc. In this way, the
accumulated knowledge is stored and searchable and not tossed into the
recycle bin.

I would also like to suggest that AMSAT survey its members to get some real
data on their thoughts rather than just having an open ended discussion.

Thanks for listening.

I recently saw a question about this, but missed the answer. Being a newbie

declination from there locale. So is it true?

The Milwaukee Radio Amateur Club is sponsoring and assembling an ARISS
contact station. We've purchased an ERC-M USB from Vibroplex and installed
SATPC32 on a Windows 7 laptop.

Our initial tests with the included software for the ERC work and we can
control the rotor when we specify COM4. However when we launch SATPC32, the
Rotor options for Yaesu only list LPT ports. Could anyone provide guidance
for a way to specify USB COM4 for the ERC in the SATPC32 software?

Reading the archives, it seems like others have been successful with this
configuration. Could someone provide us with additional information on your
setup for SATPC32? Or should we possibly consider an alternate software
such as GPredict (though GPredict only had network settings for rotor
control, I didn't see any COM port fields in GPredict either). I'm a bit
confused how others set this up.

Thanks for any assistance,
Roger

Roger,
You might look at PSTRotator software. It supports ERC and the COM
ports...and is inexpensive software.

Yes, you want "Map North" and not "Magnetic North".

The USGS lists magnetic deviation needed to correct your compass readings.
In Southern California I had to make a 12.5* correction. Here in Northern
Colorado it's only 8.5*.

Hello,

I am trying to set the Wisp on Windows 10 but having problems

to get the settings permanent.

If I go into Tracking and select the satellites I want to have under eyes,

When I close the GSC and shut down the PC on the next

Start-up of the PC and the Wisp program, I get the lower part of the GSC
program

Empty. I have to go again in the tracking tab and select again the
satellites but

At the next shut down and restart I am again at the beginning point.

What to do to get them permanent?

Thanks
