Hi OMs,

On 2 Jun and 3 Jun we had 2 successfully tests on the UHF downlink of
DSLWP-B after lunar orbit insertion. BY2HIT and PI9CAM team successfully
decoded 39 GMSK packets from the satellite. SP5ULN and M0IEB also detected
signals from the satellite with much smaller antenna, but the decode was not
fully successful.

Two weeks ago, when the satellites were launched on 20 May, UHF signals from
both satellites was received by PY2SDR, CD3NDC, PY4ZBZ and N6RFM.

The subsequent tests are planned from 4 Jun 22:00 UTC to 5 Jun 00:00 UTC,
and from 5 Jun 08:00 UTC to 5 Jun 10:00 UTC. The mode is 250 bps GMSK for
both 435.4 MHz and 436.4 MHz.

Hi All,

The spacecraft is now operating in autonomous mode. ie: full
power tlm when in the sun and with the transponder on when in eclipse.

We couldn't switch on Sunday evening as planned due to operator
availability.

It is planned to switch the transponder to continuous operation on Friday
as usual.

Have fun

The activation of maidenhead grid square EL58hx by W5PFG & AC0RA is
three days away. Even if you are not a grid or awards chaser, we would
love to work you during this expedition via satellite. There are no
permanent residents of this grid square, as most of it is open water in
the Gulf of Mexico. What little land in EL58 is sandbar at mouth of the
Mississippi River and accessible only by boat. See here:
http://qthlocator.free.fr/index.php?locator=el58hx

During the entire expedition, we will be land-based in the grid, meaning
this activation will count as Louisiana, Plaquemines Parish (County),
USA. It counts as Islands on the Air IOTA NA-168, Burwood Island. If you
participate in the 2018 ARRL International Grid Chase, this might be
your only opportunity to work EL58.

Operating activity is estimated to begin around 23:00 UTC on 7-June.
There are some variability in our arrival time and it will take us some
time to prepare the site for operation. We will likely conclude
operations around 15:00 UTC on 9-June.

The list below are satellites we plan to utilize:

FM: SO-50, AO-85, AO-91, AO-92
SSB: AO-7, FO-29, AO-73, XW-2A, XW-2B, XW-2C, XW-2F, CAS-4B

Skeds are available for DX and stations greater than 6000 kms distance
from EL58hx. Sked via direct email only to w5pfg at arrl dot net.

Even if you worked the previous EL58 trip (K5L/mm), we'd love to work
you again. This expedition we will use callsign W5PFG on satellites and
AC0RA on 6m. We are hoping to work and confirm as many grid squares as
possible, so if you want to work us from a nearby grid line to your home
QTH, it is appreciated!

AC0RA is responsible for the 6m side of our activation. You may hear
either of us on 20m and 40m. Anyone who works us is encouraged to spot us.

I may activate other grids in route to EL58, especially Wednesday,
6-June. I'll try to announce those via Twitter @????? but it may be on
short notice.

73,
Clayton
W5PFG

Good Evening,

Congratulations to all OM?s mentioned in Wei's e-mail and to her and the
team in China who made this possible.

Quite a challenge & success really, I am still struggling with Unbuntu and
other stuff this side and hopefully all will work out well, in such case
will inform through the BB.

Will try JT4G tonight, rig on automatic mode due to late (actually early
hours this side) hours.

Grand Bravo!

Dear All,

Succeeded to get the Unbubtu soft and all GNU app for DSWLP working today,
thanks to all the for post/advices particularly to Wei, Dimitry & Mike which
help a lot, thats the beauty of the BB (sharing info and knowledge).

Still not ready for the GMSK but will take Scott advice seriously and put
the rig and computers to listen to FT4G tonight, automatic mode as pass is
in the middle of night this side. Hopefully will see something on the screen
tomorrow morning.

I am heading out for a summer road trip later this week with the old El
Camino to attend the Hot Rod Power Tour. I will be traveling a strange
winding route from WY to Indianapolis, then to the south from KY, TN, AL,
GA, SC, NC, and back to TN. Followed by a side trip to Buffalo, NY before
returning to Wyoming.

The primary goal of the trip is the Power Tour, but I will be bringing the
Arrow and the D72 along with me. I hope to activate as many grids as I can
along the way. I will mostly be working AO-91 and AO-92. I won't be in
the rarest grids ever, but I plan to be on back roads as much as possible
and hopefully away from the cites when possible.

I hope to get some good contacts and grids for you all. And I just want to
give a big shout out to Sean KX9X, Patrick WD9EWK, and Doug N6UA for all
the help getting me started.

See you all on the birds.

R.J. WY7AA

P.S. I won't have much internet access, so I will try to put my plans on
Twitter when I can, but it will be spotty.

Dimitry,

I get the same message about packet drop or RuntimeError: Connection
refused, have you been able to solve this?

Also the JT4 Flowchart does not seems to work.

Reading the GNU Radio Tutorials to try to understand...

Hello Amsat-ers

My elevation rotator fails to move when using the manual controls
intermittently. If I jog the control in the opposite direction momentarily
the rotator works normally for the next few munities. The rotator fails to
move in both the up or down direction. Help?

In my case, packet drops are caused by running out of system resources
(CPU, memory).

To allow me to run the essential parts of the decoders, I have disabled all
unnecessary waterfalls, constellation GUI, etc. I also close any other
apps running on my computer, including background apps like Dropbox.

As for "Connection refused", if I am not mistaken that is when a decoder is
started without the proxy application running. (You can certainly disable
"KISS Encode PDU" & "Socket PDU" blocks if you would like to test those
flowgraphs without a proxy connection!)

If you would like help with the JT4 aspect, please provide more detail.
FYI, for me it put too much burden on system resources. So, I have
disabled those blocks that make audio-OUT available for use by WSJTx.

Instead, I use a different SDR / different computer to listen for JT4G.

Hello all,

I've been using (the most amazing) http://vhf.pi5fts.nl/ WebSDR to
listen to passes on the other side of the globe.

I noticed that Fox-1A was announcing "Safe Mode" with what sounds like
9600 bps telemetry. Is this normal?

I didn't catch the voice announcement, but I do have a WAV file of the
telemetry.
