I have put together a how-to guide for decoding DSLWP GMSK telemetry. It is

My FM operating is has been dual HTs and portable, I.E. not tripod, no
table, just me and what I can hold. I am working on a SSB setup but only
tried it a few times thus far, but that includes a backpack.

Yes, holding 2 radios and an antenna is difficult at best, and risky for
the equipment. That is why I took the suggestion to use a piece of wood in
the end of my Arrow to mount the RX radio to. This was a major improvement
in the setup. Pictures and credit for the ideas are available at
hamqth.com/KB2YSI

SO-50 has been my go to satellite and 5w has worked very well for me. AO-85
is my unicorn, sometimes I have no issues getting in, others nothing I do
seems to work. My money is on operater error. Hihi. AO-91 & AO-92 are crazy
easy to use once I had a full duplex (using 2 radios and a duplexer as a
filter) setup.

I am still new, have not been operating a year yet, but am willing to talk
offline if anyone is interested. I may have learned a lot the hard way, but
it has been incredibly fun time!

Hi folks,

Have plans been made for AO-92 during the Field Day window? I'm
wondering if it will be in Mode L or not...

Thanks,

It was suggested that you need "a few more watts" to use SO-50. That is
definitely not the case. I have worked it many times with only 500 mW, even
on busy passes, getting in full-quieting. I have also gotten into it with
an acceptable signal with only 50 mW on empty relatively high elevation
passes. It does has a relatively weak downlink though (250 mW).

Regarding AO-85, it is a little deaf and it's true it's because of an
antenna issue. I have some info about it and a "twist trick" fix documented
here:

I have been been quite successful on SO-50, AO-85, AO-91 and AO-92 with 5W
from my TH-D72A (full duplex) and Arrow antenna; even at low elevations.

I think you will find that poor operating behavior from others on the bird
is the primary reason for not being able to get through on any given pass.

Extra, Extra, you can read all about it.

The AMSAT Store has three new items. New for 2018 is the AMSAT Hat. Now
available in sizes Small (which fits small/medium sized heads) and Large
(which fits large/xlarge size heads).

We also have the new for 2018 T-Shirts in multiple sizes and the 2018
Golf Shirt in multiple sizes.

I have only loaded a small amount of each as Martha has not unpacked all
the boxes. As soon as we get an accurate count for each size, I will
update as necessary.

Subject: [amsat-bb] Doppler adjustment - easy to remember

Regarding all the explanations on 'how to' adjust doppler... The 2m usually
doesn't move enough to need much adjusting, maybe a small bit near LOS.
Usually it's just the UHF that needs adjustment, whether it's the uplink or
the downlink... So, it's simple if you remember this phrase I came up with:

Adjust UHF UP when it's the UPLINK and DOWN when it's the DOWNLINK because
TWO meters is TOO much to bother with.

Hope that helps. 73, Kevin N4UFO

Hi

You can easy see/check real dopplers updated using
http://amsat.org.ar/pass?satx=AO-92

Or the satellite you are tracking.

What about always correct Doppler on the highest frequency? That is the
one affected most by Doppler.
