In the file "SatPos.SQF" set first 2 lines to 100 and 100.? Worked for me.?
This file is usually in the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\SatPC32
folder.

Does anyone know where the saved window position is kept for SatPC32?
I ask as last time I used SatPC32, I had 2 monitors. SatPC32 was on the
other monitor. It does not appear to detect that the system now has a single
monitor and bring the window into the viewable area. When I run the program,
it is starting on the second monitor and I need to reset its saved position.

WinAOS is great to list passes for a given date and Countd is good for field
events with a laptop.? Both are part of both part of SatPC32.
For hand held activity, I copy predictions form amsat.org into a
spreadsheet. Then a macro filters the passes by max elevation and time of
day and exports the result as an iCal file.? Finally, the iCal file is
imported into my Google Calendar.? Its a little bit of work once a few
month, but it conveniently pings me X minutes before the next pass and don't
have to carry printed copies.?
There have been other apps and suggestions but found these to be most
convenient, after trying several other ones.?

satellite contacts. My understanding there is some bonus for a satellite
contact, and likely many will be on the birds.
What do you recommend to someone who is fairly familiar with making
satellite contacts, but never during field day?

Umesh, you are right. The program saves the screen position in file
"SatPos.SQF", located? in the SatPC32 main data "SatPC32" folder (for
configurations II ... IV in sub folders CfgII, CfgIII and CfgIV).? Line
#1 contains the horizontal, line #2 the vertical screen position.
You can draw? the program window to the screen position you want.? The
program saves the last position if you close it via menu File > Quit,
but not if you close it via the X control.

I'm pretty sure it's been disabled since they changed the way the talkgroup
numbering is being done.
This was discussed a couple weeks ago on the AMSAT Facebook page. Like I
said on Facebook, if someone wants to create a new AMSAT talkgroup just
email the Brandmeister adim team and request one. Brandmeister isn't like
DMR-MARC so all talkgroups are available on the network unless a repeater
owner specifically blacklists it which is highly unlikely. There were also
comments that it should be numbered as a worldwide vs US group which really
doesn't matter other than making someone feel good. Again....all
Brandmeister talkgroups are available throughout the network.

Bryce,
Just a few random thoughts:
1. Yes, the ARRL gives a station 100 bonus points for making a satellite
contact
2. Don't use an omnidirectional antenna. Best choice is probably an Arrow
or Elk handheld, or a similar homemade antenna. While a larger antenna
array with Az/El rotors should work, the handheld has fewer things to break
and gives you better control over the polarity.
3. FM satellites will be completely clogged and nearly useless. If you
want to attempt an FM contact, pick a pass when the satellite is located
over Canada, the Atlantic Ocean, or the Pacific Ocean. You'll have less
competition. Also, check the AMSAT website status page and the @?????
Twitter account to make sure AO-92 isn't in L/V mode when you're trying to
operate it.
4. As KB2M suggested, your best opportunities for contacts will be with the
SSB satellites. Make sure you try the Chinese satellites, XW-2A, XW-2B,
XW-2C, XW-2D, XW-2F, CAS-4A, and CAS-4B. These have sensitive receivers and
strong transmitters. FO-29 is always popular. AO-7 is likely to be in Mode
A because it usually can't handle the high-power stations with its limited
power supply, which almost always cause AO-7 to "flip" from Mode B to Mode A.
5. *Practice* as many passes as you can this week *before* Field Day
actually starts.
