David,

You might check out my web page at:

http://k3rrr.com/cheap-computer-controlled-tv-rotor-for-amsat-satellites-and-i
ncludes-free-satellite-tracking-with-pstrotator-and-the-usb-uirt/

for a way to use a $65 for a? Jon Rhees USB-UIRT USB Universal Infrared
Receiver and Transmitter to work with PstRotator for complete rotator
control for working the satellites.

The great thing is that the USB ? UIRT is totally plug-and-play once you
download the drivers from the USB ? UIRT website. There is no
programming or software involved with the gizmo.

My web page has the link to the gizmo...and shows how to set up
PstRotator to work with it.

This worked flawlessly for me for the 11-12 months that I used it before
upgrading to the M2 LEO PACK antennas and the Yaesu G-5500 az el rotator.

Since you already have the Channel Master 9521A Rotator, all you should
need is the USB-UIRT for about $65...sometimes, though rarely, they do
show up on eBay...you also need PstRotator for about $21 if you don't
already have this GREAT software package.

Robert

Good afternoon satellite chasers!

I will be operating vacation style from FM25 and FM26 June 29 through July
6. My primarily QTH will be FM25, where I plan to be on a fair number of FM
and linear passes throughout the week. I will be operating from FM26 during
Walmart Parking Lots on the Air from Walmart #2000! I also hope to stop in
FM26 for a pass or two on 6/29 and 7/06 when we are coming into and out of
the Outer Banks. If you need either of these grids, please let me know!

Here are some passes that I will try to be on with their approximate
direction from my location. This schedule will change throughout the week
since I am on a family vacation. I will do my best to work whoever needs the
grid and to post updates when I will be on a pass! I am happy to set up
skeds on particular birds if a pass I have listed so far does not work.

Can confirm that this set up of Roberts is the best thing around for
Channel Master set up. I scored a channel master rotor at a thrift store
for $1.98 and found the link he just shared. Its really upped my tracking
game.

I am getting up to speed on working NO-84 with my TH-D72a. My primary
antenna system and radio is IC-910h with the Icom Preamp installed near the
antenna. The 910 powers the preamp through the coax, and I tend to leave
the preamp on selection on the radio on all the time.

I want to put a MFJ1702C coax switch inline with the 2m side so I can
branch out the 2m antenna to my HT. The non selected port of the coax
switch is grounded. If you accidentally ground the IC-910's coax with the
preamp selected on, does it damage the preamp power circuit or is it
tolerant of a short? I could not find a definitive answer in the manual
other than the preamp may not activate properly. I know it wont power up
the preamp.

Inevitably, if I have to rely on remembering to turn off the preamp before
I switch to the HT to work NO-84, I will forget. Just want to prevent
burning something up.

Thanks for any suggestions.

If anyone needs one more positive review to help them decide, I can also
vouch for the USB ? UIRT / PstRotator method of giving yourself a very
inexpensive way to have a fully-functional AZ-only rotator. It's been a
wonderful solution for me and works great.

I use Orbitron for sat tracking and that talks to the PstRotator software
just fine. Now that we have the DSLWP satellite in lunar orbit, PstRotator
can switch from sat tracking to moon tracking with one click.

The reason I asked if it was the laptop is that I had a similar issue on my
laptop. I had it all running fine with the connection from the microphone
jack out of my radio then all of a sudden one day it was breaking images. I
came to find out that somehow the input got switched to the microphone and
it was picking up the sound from the speaker through the microphone.
A couple of other things that I would look at would be making sure my
bandwith is set to Wide FM @ 30khz and any noise filters are off.
I'm sure you will trip across some little item and I have that Aha moment.

Yes, this is on a laptop. I have successfully received images on this

Hopefully I?m the only one who received a defective copy of the latest
Journal?when I get to page 8 the pages start again with the front cover thru
page 8! It?s missing pages 9-24. I sent Martha a note asking for a
replacement.

Was just curious if I was the only one who got one of these printer errors.

Greetings,

Does anyone have (or know where one is available on the web) an working
importable memory file for FM satellites for a TH-D72a, using either the
Kenwood program or CHIRP? I've been trying to put one together on my own and
I'm finding conflicting sources of information on various satellites.

Thanks in advance,
