Dimitry,

I agree that the Green Heron is very expensive after spending a large
amount on the rotor. I wasn't really happy about having to do it, but I
also wasn't happy about the stock controller not working twice in a year.

I have for sale a Yaesu FT100D HF/6m/2m/70cm transceiver in nice condition
that operates like it should, with one small issue. This is the model that
does 100 watts on HF and 6 meters, 50 watts on 2 meters, and 20 watts on
70cm.

This would make a nice rig for part of a satellite station. Just get
another 2 meter or 70cm all mode radio and you are ready to do full duplex
on the satellites. It is small enough to take portable on satellite grid
expeditions as well.

It has DSP noise reduction, mic equalization, an auto notch filter, and a
very effective audio peak filter for CW, and bandpass filtering (AF DSP)
for SSB. Also has a built in CW memory keyer, and SWR meter.

It is a 2000 year model and has had the SWR/Grounding mod done to it. Being
a D model it has the 500hz CW filter, TCXO, and CTCSS decode options
installed in it at the factory.

I tried to plug a couple of different CT-62 computer control cables into
the CAT port on the end of the pigtail on the FT100D, and I couldn't get
them to fit right. Not sure if there is something wrong with the jack. You
might not be able to do computer control with this radio

It comes with the power cord, and a almost new MH-48 hand mic. A previous
owner did install a couple of circular rubber feet on the front bottom, but
these won't interfere with the prop up feet if you want to use them.

I am asking $420 shipped in the US for the radio, and can take
paypal/check/MO.

I'm looking to activate CM79 this Saturday and maybe Sunday.? I'll be on the
FM Birds as well as 20 and 40m.? This is a recon expedition for a grander
activation later on in the year.? I hope to become proficient on the Linear
Birds by then to use them next time.? Wish me luck,AnthonyKG6LHW.

I would like to test my Yaesu FT-991A with SatPC32 version 12.8d, but
neither FT-991 or YaesuII are available options as described in the latest
help menu Radio->Hints or Yaesu README file.

I recently migrated from SatPC32 version 12.8c to 12.8d on my testbed
computer. I followed the normal instructions (DataBackup, uninstall 12.8c,
install 12.8d as Administrator.) I?ve done this many times and have
configured SatPC32 to control a half-dozen different radios over the years.
On my latest attempt I did not restore the DataBackup and attempted to
configure a ?fresh? copy of 12.8d, but the radio options are not available.

Is anyone successfully using SatPC32 version 12.8d to control a Yaesu
FT-991A? I would like to compare files with you.

I eliminated all my issues with the AlfaSpid RAS/HR & MD-01 controller by
migrating from using SatPC32 to PSTrotator software for rotor control.
SatPC32 did not have the correct incremental steps and more importantly it
does not read any feedback from the controller when it is sending commands.
You will definitely have problems, potentially hazardous mechanical aiming
issues, if you attempt to use the AlfaSpid+SatPC32 for anything other than
360 degree rotation. My recommendation is use PSTrotator natively to
control/direct Spid movements (and NOT feed with DDE instructions from other
applications.)

Hello Clayton,

I am using Orbitron to track sat's via dde and that has worked
very well and no trouble except hardware (relays) as Jeff
probably having.
But I also using pstrotator on the eme setup,,very good
pice of sw.
The MD-01 controller is much more reliable I think so people
that order a spid rotor should include that instead of rot2prg.

Message-ID: <001d01d41939$1bb453a0$531cfae0$@???????.???>
Content-Type: text/plain;	charset="utf-8"

I've been using DK3WN's Online Telemetry Forwarder for the past year to
upload 9600 baud Cubesat telemetry to the SatNogs database. Two days ago,
after a PC restart, it stopped receiving KISS data from UZ7HO's High-Speed
Sound Modem.

I've checked that the KISS ports are correct and there are no other
demodulators running. The HS sound modem displays the telemetry data, but
nothing shows up on the Online Telemetry Forwarder even though it shows the
port is connected. I'm running both programs as Administrator.

OS is Win10.
The Online Telemetry Forwarder is ver 1.0.14b
HS sound modem is ver 0.19b.
I'm using KISS port 8100 between the telemetry forwarder and the sound modem.
HS Sound Modem has "KISS Optimization" checked and is displaying the
received data, so it's working.

Any troubleshooting suggestions appreciated!

Clayton,

There are currently two versions of 12.8d on the download page. The second
has the name satpcsetup_a_128d_991.ZIP. I downloaded that, and on the radio
setup page, there is a "Yaesu II" selection along with the regular Yaesu,
Icom, and Kenwood. Selecting that, and the FT-991 comes up.

Hi All,

I've been inactive for several years now and have started to get the
itch again to get back into doing some Amateur Radio related. I've
often thought about trying to get on some of the linear and FM sats as
apparently I live in a somewhat rare grid. EM23? Anyway I have a
FT-897 and FT-857 that I plan to use along with a dual band arrow
antenna that I used several years ago during field day one time. I have
CAT cables for the radios on order for rig control. I will probably go
with SATPC32 for software unless someone has an idea on something better
but it needs to be PC based. Maybe free? Right now the plan is to
either hold the arrow antenna or mount to a tri-pod. I need all of this
to be as portable as possible as I am currently unable to setup a
station at my QTH. Am I missing anything? Any suggestions?

Hello, Matt!

Since you mentioned an Arrow and a tripod, I think you mean to use the setup
in a portable situation! Excellent!

I use an FT-897 for uplink, an FT-817 for downlink, and an Arrow -- similar
to your situation.

May I suggest that you consider trying it out manually first without CAT
control. It is fairly straightforward -- with some practice -- to learn how
to manually adjust for Doppler. And, since you use the FT-897, it has the
spotting function that I find handy from time to time and that I found
especially handy while learning to tune Doppler manually.

As for the Arrow, a tripod is a great way to start but you will find that
most of the very active operators hold it by hand. The chief reason for this
is to be able to control the axial rotation -- some tripods can also do this
but many don't. You really need to be able to quickly rotate the Arrow on
its axis to maximize downlink signals -- like flicking your wrist.

Lastly, consider using an inline MP3 recorder so that logging takes less
effort during operation. Since you have separate radios, you will be able to
hear (and record) your downlink just fine.

So, to the point of being as portable as possible: imagine me grabbing
iPhone (for GoSatWatch), MP3 Recorder, iPod headset, extra male-to-male
audio cable, Yaesu mic, FT-897, and FT-817 and racing through the house to
the garage. While I wait for the garage door to open I grab the Arrow. I set
up everything on a flat surface outside -- talk to Patrick WD9EWK about the
special features offered by pink trash bins -- and track the Arrow by hand.
So much fun!
