Message-ID: <2014076896.4514413.1531615519674@????.?????.???>

I have written a software tool in Python for determining if a set of local
rover locations (specified in decimal degrees latitude and longitude) are
all within 200km of each other.? I used this for myself to determine which
of my local roving locations were within my 200km VUCC circle.
The script uses the Haversine method for determining the distance between
two locations on the earths surface, assuming the earth has a constant
radius.? References are given in the readme.txt file provided below in the
DropBox folder.
It's a good planning tool too; if I'm going to go roving to a new local spot
then I'd prefer to rove to a location within my VUCC circle so my contacts
count toward my VUCC award totals.
This is a Python script that is run from the command line, so I'm sorry but
there is no user interface.? If you're not sure what the command line is and
you've never heard of the Python programming language this software tool is
probably not for you.
You can download the files here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xkvbaj41060h4vy/AAC0n_D3uDAjEgWwcwxxxjnba?dl=0

The DropBox folder contains the Python script, along with
ad0dx_vucc_circle.txt, the file with my roving locations to give you an
example of how to use the script.??
A readme.txt file is provided to give some more background and also a
results file with the results from using the script on my roving locations
file.? You could examine the results file to determine if you think this
Python script might be useful to you.
Another great application is to put all your local WalMart's in the file to
confirm if those WMPLOTA locations count toward your VUCC totals.
Currently only latitude and longitude in decimal degrees are supported for
locations.
I haven't actually found the center of my own VUCC cirle at this point, but
the tool has let me confirm and investigate all the locations I use for
roving.? It turns out for me that the DM68 69 78 79 four corner grid is in
my circle as well as the location I operate from on the DM 88 89 grid line.?
My qth is in DM78 and is close to 39N latitude so DM79 is just a few miles
north of me.? The tool has shown me that I can also include DM77 in my VUCC
circle, so that gives me a lot of options for roaming and counting grids
towards my VUCC award.
If you have any questions or comments please contact me off list at ad0dx at
yahoo dot com.
Thanks and 73's,
Ron, ad0dx

Hi John,

Just a reminder that AO-92 was just commanded into L/v mode a couple hours
ago and will be in that mode until about 0200Z on Tuesday. If you're L band
equipped, excellent, but if not maybe find an alternate pass.

Hi Gabe!

Since AO-92 was commanded into L/V mode this evening, it should
be back to U/V mode Sunday evening - in time for the planned
CN87/97 activation on Monday morning. AO-92 only stays in L/V
for up to 24 hours at a time.

It will revert to U/v at approximately 0216Z 7/16, or Sunday evening US
local time. L/v mode runs on a 24 hour timer.

Good afternoon,

I have been trying to decode 1KUNS-PF fo the past 2 weeks without success in
spite the signal received is sometimes strong.

I used the UZ0HO Soundmodem specially written by Andrei for this bird with
default settings. I can see the signal on the Soundmodem waterfall but no
decode. I tried to play with the bandwidth and filters without success.

Any hints?

Jean Marc,
1KUNS-PF has been downloading 2k4 and 4k8 data in recent weeks.
Please download the other-versions.zip file dated 11th July 2018 from Andrei
UZ7HO's website.
It now has 1k2, 2k4 and 4k8 decoding files the 1KUNS-PF folder.

Is there a (hopefully Linux) way to turn an audio recording into a KISS
file?

Why? Because......

I got fairly strong signals from XW2D today and saw the GMSK data stream
showing up for the first time. Having no idea about what to do with it I
decided to simply record an audio file. I downloaded the XW2 telemetry
program from DK3WN's website and after an hour of trying got it to work
on Linux, under Wine. But....it only takes KISS files. I googled around
a bit, but didn't fine any program or method for turning my audio file
into a KISS file. Does anybody have any experience with doing such a
thing? Cheers,

Hans

Hi All,

I was able to decode 1KUNS-PF, the issue was wrong speed, I download the new
one from UZ0HO site and it work out well during a short pass at 2 deg. ele.
max.

Thanks to Colin (VK5HI) who guided me in the right direction.

Hans,

This is XW2E I believe, it seems that it came back to life, I got same at
time this bird was supposed to be over my area.

Also Mike (DK3WN) succeeded to decode its CW telemetry, see his blog
