Has anyone got the PATed 9100 displaying a useful panadapter on the
satellites? I?m getting sort of, useful signals on HF and repeaters. I?ve
been tweaking my SDRPlay setup here for several days and just barely see
anything on the visual display. Now I?m comparing this to my Flex VU5K which
has an excellent panadapter display. I?m thinking maybe where I mounted the
PAT board, it might be getting desenced, or the my old SDRPlay ver 1 could
be replaced with a newer version, or better hardware. Anyone getting better
results? If so your setup please?

I could send pictures of what I?m seeing with the 9100 and what the VU5K is
capable of to demonstrate my issue.

Hi all. FoxTelem reads the available spacecraft at startup. You can
change it by adding or removing the spacecraft files. There are two
directories to consider:

1) The logfiles folder contains a "spacecraft" folder. Inside there are
one or more files ending in ".dat". For each file present FoxTelem loads a
spacecraft.

2) The installation folder (where you store the FoxTelem.exe or
FoxTelem.jar files) also contains a "spacecraft" folder. This contains all
the static data for the spacecraft, such as layouts and lookup tables.
There are a set of files that end in ".MASTER". If you copy one of the
files ending in .MASTER to the logfile/spacecraft folder and change the
extension to ".dat" then it will be added to FoxTelem.

I'm not sure why I made it so complicated, but there is a simpler trick.
If you delete all the ".dat" files from the logfiles/spacecraft folder then
at startup FoxTelem will again prompt to install spacecraft and you can
pick any that you want. It won't delete any of your existing collected
data.

By the way, you can also delete ".dat" files from the logfiles/spacecraft
folder if you no longer want them, or if like me you run 3 copies of
FoxTelem and only want one spacecraft in each. It does not delete your
saved telemetry data but it does delete any custom changes you made to the
spacecraft, such as narrowing the frequency range.

At some point I'll add a menu option to add or remove spacecaft so we can
add in Fox-1E, HuskySat or any others..

Hello,
A friend of mine needs? to steer the IC-9100 by SatPC32I/SatPC32ISS via
the radio's USB port for a coming ISS school contact.? ? He is using a
Laptop with Windows 7, 64-bit.
As he told me the generated virtual COM ports are marked with a yellow
exclmation sign (which indicates a driver problem) and he gets the error
message that a USB device could not be recognized.

Does somebody successfully steer the IC-9100 via one ot the USB ports
under Windows 7, 64bit?

If so, what driver are you using (dirver name, download link)?
As far as I see (I don't have an IC-9100) the driver name could be
CD-301501-004.zip
and the link:
https://www.icom.co.jp/world/support/download/firm/IC-7600/usb1_30/

Can both USB ports be used for CAT control or only one of them?

Many thanks

Hi Erich,

I can't help entirely, but maybe I can add some information. The 2 USB
ports are different--one appears to be dedicated to "CAT" control, the
other to audio to/from computer and radio. So I don't think they are
interchangeable. I had to experiment to figure out which was audio and
which was CAT! This weekend I was using the IC-9100 on HF with FT8, with
both CAT control and USB audio for xmit and receive. Very nice when
working.

I'm running under Win10. Coincidentally, just yesterday I tried to remove
the current drivers (which are working fine!) and to replace with the
lastest USB drivers from ICOM (1.3 I think, which adds more radios and USB3
maybe?). According to the docs, the first step was to remove the current
drivers. This was not possible with a "remove software" typical route! So
I quickly gave up and resigned to using the current drivers, which work
fine anyhow.

My initial thoughts--have him remove any existing Icom USB drivers, per the
instruction sheets. Next, Make SURE the rig is not connected via the USB
cable. Install new drivers per the instructions. Then connect rig.
Figure out which ports were installed (Device Manager). Try setting in
SatPC32 to one of them, if that doesn't work, try the other com port number
installed.

There is a good bit of documentation on the iCom site, so your friend may
have some good reading to do first :)

Sorry I can't be any more help than that...

Hi Erich,

Just the first port is used for CAT control.

I'm using the v1.20 USB driver.? It works very well for the IC-9100
under Win7 64pro.
File name is CD-301501-003.zip

As far as I know, the latest version, v1.30 is for Win10, and does not
work correctly under Win7.? See ***

The "CP210x_Universal_Windows_Driver_ReleaseNotes.txt" included in the
zip reads:

"RELEASE NOTES
=============
Silicon Labs Virtual COM Port (VCP) Universal Driver for Windows 10

This package contains a Virtual COM Port Universal driver for Microsoft
Windows 10 for use with Silicon Labs VCP USB Serial Bridges. These devices
include the CP2102N, CP2102, CP2103, CP2104, CP2105, CP2108, CP2109.

OS VERSIONS

This package provides the CP210x VCP driver for the following versions
of Windows:

support for Windows 10, or you need the Universal driver.? If you require
support on older versions of Windows, you should use the legacy VCP driver

drivers have version numbers less than 10.0.0."

Hi all
I just bought these two antennas and I want to use them without the
phaser for circular polarization.

I want to use a switch for H and V in the mast, the idea is to use it
for terrestrial & satellite with vertical rotor.

I also wanted to know if routing the two coaxial cables along the boom
until the horizontal crossbeam can affect the radiation diagram etc.

I have consulted with the guys from M2 and they advise to route the
coaxial cables towards the end of the boom and leave them hanging, but
that makes the installation very complicated and will cause the boom to
go awry.

They also tell me about the possibility that VSWR does not match in UHF
due to the phasing cables.

Have any of you made similar changes with M2 antennas?

This is the email exchanged with them

Hello Jose,

If you route the feedlines down the boom, the gain, pattern and VSWR
will be degraded.? No metal can run parallel to the elements.? We
recommend our L-brace kit, http://www.m2inc.com/FGLBKAM so that your
coax is not hanging.? One L-brace kit is required per antenna.

Additionally, if you remove all of the phasing cables, the VSWR may not
match the original settings (especially for 70cm).? The antenna elements
are tuned specifically to counteract any interaction with the phasing
cables.? You may (or may not) be able to achieve a reasonable match when
converted to V/H linear polarity.? We have not done any
engineering/testing in this configuration.
