Hi Kevin and others,
perhaps you want to try the older version of ServerSDX.exe whether it
works better. This version only outputs az and el to the controller but
doesn't read the actual position as the newer version does (the reading
function was a suggestion of a user who worked the program remotely so
that he could no see his antenna).
The older file can be downlaoded here:
www.dk1tb.de/ServerSDX.exe
First save your present file, for example rename it, then copy the
downloaded file into the sub folder SDX of the SatPC32 program folder.

Hi,

I had similar problem in the past whereby the SDX will not respond.

The issue was not the SDX but the cheap USB-Serial converter using Prolific
chip, I tried a few of these and same symptoms. This was particularly
annoying when in the middle of the QSO, having to close everything, restart
the computer (sometimes a few times) to get it again working.

I finally bought a good quality 4-Way RS232 to USB with FTDI chip and now
using only one USB port for Rotor, CAT and GPS clock, no more issue.

May be above can help.

An International Space Station school contact has been planned with
participants at Colegio Del Sol, San Miguel de Tucuman, Tucuman, Argentina
on 10 Sept. The event is scheduled to begin at approximately 15:20 UTC. The
duration of the contact is approximately 9 minutes and 30 seconds. The
contact will be direct between NA1SS and LU5KHF. The contact should be
audible over Argentina and adjacent areas. Interested parties are invited to
listen in on the 145.80 MHz downlink. The contact is expected to be
conducted in English.

During the contact the students of the school will be in the main room
waiting for it. Before starting the contact there will be a brief
explanation about the contact, about ARISS, about the ISS to all those
present, there will be about 200 students of all the courses. the room will
have a giant screen to follow the ISS's trajectory through a tracking
software, through a sound system all those present will be able to follow
the conversation between the students and the astronaut of the ISS, besides
there will be present parents of the students, professors and members of the
school. In addition, the local media was informed, which will cover the event.

The school has 3 main levels, kindergarten, primary and secondary, divided
into morning shift and late shift. they have a total of 1700 students. It is
a school that is located in a residential area and was operated more than 35
years ago, has an excellent academic level.

Participants will ask as many of the following questions as time allows:

1. What inspired you to be an astronaut?

2. How did your relatives react when they learned about your mission?

3. What is it that you miss from daily life since you are on the ISS?

4. What is your mission? Do you think they will achieve it?

5. Is your work team made up of people from different countries? Which ones?

6. Has your way of seeing space changed since you are in the mission?

7. How long, on average, does a mission on the ISS last?

8. Is the perception of time modified in an environment with micro-gravity?

9. How are spacecraft and spacesuits built to withstand the extreme

   conditions in space?

10. How is personal hygiene done in a microgravity environment?

11. How is the oxygen supply maintained in the ISS?

12. Living in an environment with micro gravity has had any noticeable effect

on your health or physical - emotional state?

13. How fast is the ISS moving?

14. How does the earth look from space?

15. What is the temperature in space? And how is the temperature maintained

    within the ISS?

16. What is the strangest thing you saw in space?

17. Has your vision of the world and the earth changed since you were in the

    ISS?

18. Is it possible with current technology to live forever in space?

19. Are the security protocols in the ISS very complex?

About ARISS:

Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) is a cooperative
venture of international amateur radio societies and the space agencies that
support the International Space Station (ISS). In the United States,
sponsors are the Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation (AMSAT), the American
Radio Relay League (ARRL), the Center for the Advancement of Science in
Space (CASIS) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
The primary goal of ARISS is to promote exploration of science, technology,
engineering, and mathematics (STEM) topics by organizing scheduled contacts
via amateur radio between crew members aboard the ISS and students in
classrooms or informal education venues. With the help of experienced
amateur radio volunteers, ISS crews speak directly with large audiences in a
variety of public forums. Before and during these radio contacts, students,
teachers, parents, and communities learn about space, space technologies,
and amateur radio. For more informa
 tion, see www.ariss.org, www.amsat.org, and www.arrl.org.

In my installation I am using a USB port on the rear of the computer to
the ERC interface.? No RS-232 ports involved.? Mine has never locked up
during operation.? Only time I have an issue is after a period of
inactivity IE. overnight.? I then use Windows Task Manager to close both
SatPC32 and SDX and relaunch the programs.? Don't have to restart the
computer.

    rising every 92 minutes?

12. What is the most used room, area or object on the space station and why?

13. How is NASA using artificial intelligence to find life in outer space?

14. What is the most interesting thing that you have learnt in space?

15. What are the coolest things that you have seen during your time on the

space station, both looking back at the earth and looking into outer

    space?

16. Does being an astronaut change your perspective on humanity as you get to

experience seeing the world as a whole?

17. Do you have to do every day chores such as washing on the Space Station?

What makes some of these chores difficult?

You might want to check your power management settings. Some USB port
drivers don't properly handle the situation of getting put to sleep with a
device attached and then properly waking back up, and that could be
confusing anything talking to the COM port the USB device is representing.

For my "ham" laptop, I normally keep it plugged into my docking station, so
I have a custom power management profile that disallows sleeping or
hibernating when docked/plugged in. I still turn the display off after a few
minutes, but I make sure that the CPU, network, and drives are not powered
down when I'm plugged in. This made a lot of my USB-related gremlins go
away, even on cheaper USB chipsets.

In my installation I am using a USB port on the rear of the computer to
the ERC interface. No RS-232 ports involved. Mine has never locked up

inactivity IE. overnight. I then use Windows Task Manager to close both
SatPC32 and SDX and relaunch the programs. Don't have to restart the
    computer.

Prolific chip, I tried a few of these and same symptoms. This was
particularly annoying when in the middle of the QSO, having to close
everything, restart the computer (sometimes a few times) to get it again
working.
