Love my new radio, BUT it seems the audio output on the ACC2 connector
pin 3 (MANO) has some filtering on it.? It's also only present when the
squelch is open.? On my V71A, there's a signal called "PR9 Output 9600
(bps) repeat signal" which is always present regardless of squelch etc.,
and works very well for tapping the audio for DUV detection.

I did discover that I could get a EYE diagram (kinda) after turning the
'Lo/Width' knob all the way down.? So I believe that means that the
radio is filtering the MANO output which it shouldn't....

Has anyone modified the? TS-2000 to tap into the audio before it is
filtered?? I hear this was a practice for a long time.? Just assumed
Kenwood would have provided a better output for work like this.?

Then again I easily could be overlooking something simple... if so,
please tell me!? Attached is the EYE diagram.

Thanks,

Lisa AK7WS

Hi Lisa, use the 9600 packet pin. It works without modification to the
rig. Not able to look up which pin or connector but it?s there. Put the
rig into 9600 packet mode via menu and use FM. Mark N8MH.

Can anyone from the OPS team comment on the specific passes they are
planning to activate the camera on for Thurs/Fri?? I'm assuming we
aren't attempting anything in the wee hours when its darker.? My guesses
are listed below with the date and the rough AOS time (for VT) in UTC:

20180913, 15:11:00 UTC (this one looks like best chance for success with
a descending pass right along the coast.)
20180913, 16:47:00 UTC (also descending, but with ground track mainly
through center of North America, might get lucky with a 'side shot')
20180914, 14:51:00 UTC (also looks really good with descending pass
along the coast)
20180914, 16:25:00 UTC (also mostly over central NA, but a bit shifted
to the East, maybe a chance of a better 'side shot')

I'm trying to get some students out to the Tracking Station to help out,
but want to send them confirmed times for the events so they can
deconflict with their class schedules (I might also be missing some
meetings for this).

If someone from OPS can confirm (or correct) those times that would be
great.

Thanks in advance!

planning to activate the camera on for Thurs/Fri? I'm assuming we aren't
attempting anything in the wee hours when its darker. My guesses are listed
below with the date and the rough AOS time (for VT) in UTC:

descending pass right along the coast.) 20180913, 16:47:00 UTC (also
descending, but with ground track mainly through center of North America,
might get lucky with a 'side shot') 20180914, 14:51:00 UTC (also looks
really good with descending pass along the coast) 20180914, 16:25:00 UTC
(also mostly over central NA, but a bit shifted to the East, maybe a chance
of a better 'side shot')

I just received the sad news that my friend Frank, K4FEG has become a silent
key. Frank mentored my in satellite operations many times and I will miss
him dearly. Please keep his wife and family in your prayers at this most
difficult time. RIP Frank. See you on the other side.
