Allow me to expand on my previous post. When I mentioned the "satellite
community", I meant the total satellite community worldwide. I detest
infighting and demands for loyalty between combatants. I saw benefits to
both sides of this battle. Regardless of where your allegiances rest, Frank
was a mentor/elmer to probably hundreds of people worldwide. And, that, was
no small feat. May you all be granted such kind words at your own passing.

Hugh,

Wow-thanks for making us aware we?ve lost Frank.

My experience has been that I?d give my call on a quiet transponder many
many times and Frank would say ?Well hello Mike?... followed by a nice QSO
that made getting on the birds feel to me like you?re ?Where everybody knows
your name? (to steal an old TV show theme) which was enjoyable to me.

K4FEG 73 FRIEND DE W4UOO SK

Thanks,
Mike

My first contact with Frank was on AO-27 in January 2012 and I had
worked him many times since then. He was ready to offer his help and
actually helped me on many occasions including my roving in Newfoundland
in 2012. What I admired in him is how he always managed to add a
personal touch to a QSO even on the busiest passes...

Rest in Peace, my friend.

Hi Everyone,

I would like to remind you and to reiterate the description of how we
produce the AO-92 images seen on the Fox telemetry web pages.
http://www.amsat.org/tlm/leaderboard.php?id=0&db=FOXDB

In contrast to the images or partial images you may receive and see on
your FoxTelem display, the web page image is produced from the data
received by the server from the many stations who may be capturing the
pass with FoxTelem.? That literally means the more the merrier, and even
if you only see as little as one scan line on your FoxTelem image that
line will be sent to the server to be "stitched together" with all other
image data that others capture.? Your line may be the only capture of
that line and just what is needed to complete the whole image.? While
the single line or incomplete image on your display may seem
insignificant or be disappointing, you are contributing to the
opportunity to have the entire image available on the web.? That is
significant, and counting on several stations to receive the components
of a full image is part of the design of FoxTelem.

Of course to make this work in the end, you must have the Decoder
Options "Upload to Server" checked in your FoxTelem settings.? That
setting plus the participation of many stations, no matter how much or
how little data they might individually receive, is what can make full
images available for all to see on the website.

Thank you for participating in the science the Fox-1 satellites deliver,
and enjoy the birds!

Hi

Look for me this weekend September 15-18th from EN76, EN85, and EN86. Check
my QRZ page for updates, will try to post expected passes if I have internet
access on Drummond Island. Open to any skeds if somebody needs still needs
one of these grids. I'll try to get on more passes of AO07 and FO29 for EU,
Central/SA, Caribbean and Alaska. As always, contacts will be uploaded to
LOTW.
