Just use sprinkler system wire. It is direct burial, u/v resistant, and cost
1/3 of what rotor cable cost.
Mine had been outside over 18 years, and has been flawless.

She looks like she is really enjoying it :-)

This was posted by Keith E. Brandt. According to his Facebook profile he is
a flight surgeon at JSC.

He says:

"Did you contact the ISS on Oct 25? This video is from a west coast pass
where Serena Aunon-Chancellor, KG5TMT, was working random contacts. It
doesn't have audio, so if anyone has ground contacts from that day, I'd
like to get recordings of the ground pass to match up with the video."

October 25th was a Thursday. I don't remember reports of her being active
on Thursday.

P.S. I worked her yesterday and made a short video of it:

I asked Keith in the comments of the FB thread about the October 25th date.
He said that was the timestamp on the video but doesn't have a way to
verify it is accurate. :-)

That is what I told him too. Good company that is where I purchased mine.

I also gave him KF7P.com in Salt Lake. He has lots of Grounding and handles
Spider Rotors. Plus he is the grounding guru.

Hi,

To our faithful team of supporters....

I should appreciate it if you could spare a few packets (scores) from a
couple of passes and point your FC1 & Nayif1 dashboards to
data.badgersoft.com <http://data.badgersoft.com/> please, so that i can test
fc1 & nayif1 realtime processing (same credentials)

UI at: http://data.badgersoft.com/satellites
<http://data.badgersoft.com/satellites> (getting ready for JY1SAT and ESEO)
these are place holders for the display but the data is going into the
system, behind the scenes.

Let me know if you do any uploads and more importantly, if the dashboard
reports any errors.

I'm changing the ranking page so that we can see all satellites at once
(dummy data) you can click on column headers and footers to change sort order

The server running this test will become data.funcube.org.uk and
warehouse.fucube.org.uk next week in preparation for the upcoming launches.
WE WILL credit the
scores from the existing system!

Thanks

Dave, G4DPZ

Thank you for the reminder -- there are so many sats that it's hard to keep
up with all of them.

They mention the following:

-------
Diwata-2?s Amateur Radio Unit (ARU) operates in two possible modes: FM
voice repeater (FMVR) mode, and APRS-based digital repeater (digipeater)
mode. The uplink and downlink of these modes are implemented at 437.7MHz
and 145.9MHz respectively.
------

... and that the mode will depend on the "day of the week". Do we know
which days are FM voice & which days are digipeater?

Hello Scott,

By http://phl-microsat.upd.edu.ph/diwata2 it looks that DIWATA-2 has a
clever design.

Looks that will operate in both modes (voice and APRS), if data is
received will honor data, if voice is received will honor voice, will
be quite interesting to see how operates in real
situations when both modes compete.

Looks that still is being commisioned, so should wait for the lucky
first station to copy.

Fox-1Cliff Launch Membership Drive
Free Digital Copy of ?Getting Started with Amateur Satellites? for
New or Renewing Members

The next AMSAT Fox-1 satellite, Fox-1Cliff, is scheduled to launch on
Spaceflight?s SSO-A mission on a SpaceX Falcon 9 from Vandenberg Air
Force Base.

Fox-1Cliff carries the Fox-1 U/v FM repeater as well as AMSAT?s
L-Band Downshifter.

Uplink: 435.300 MHz FM voice (67.0 Hz CTCSS tone)
1267.300 MHz FM voice (67.0 Hz CTCSS tone)
Downlink: 145.920 MHz FM voice; AFSK digital data up to 9600 bps
Transmit power: 600 mW nominal

As part of the preparations for the launch of Fox-1Cliff, AMSAT is
making the ?Getting Started With Amateur Satellites? book available
for a limited time as a download with any paid new or renewal
membership purchased via the AMSAT Store. This offer is only
available with purchases completed online, and for only a limited
time. A perennial favorite, Getting Started is updated every year
with the latest amateur satellite information, and is the premier
primer of satellite operation. The 186 page book is presented in PDF
format, in full color, and covers all aspects of making your first
contacts on a ham radio satellite.

Please take advantage of this offer today by visiting the AMSAT store
at https://www.amsat.org/shop/ and selecting any membership option.
While there, check out AMSAT?s other items, including the M2 LEOpack
antenna system, Arrow antennas, AMSAT shirts, and other swag. Be sure
to view your cart before going to checkout. If you add a membership
and then go directly to checkout, you?ll never see an option to add
your free gift.

Fox-1Cliff carries the flight spare of the AO-85 Vanderbilt
University Low Energy Proton (LEP) radiation experiment, and the
standard Fox-1 Penn State University?Erie gyroscope experiment.
Virginia Tech provided a VGA camera which is the same as AO-92 but
will provide images at a higher 640 x 480 resolution. These non-SSTV
images will be decoded in the FoxTelem software.

Fox-1Cliff, unlike the other three Fox-1 FM spacecraft, does not have
an active AFC (Automatic Frequency Control) on the uplinks.

Fox-1Cliff?s Data Under Voice (low-speed telemetry) will be the same
as for AO-85, AO-91, and AO-92. It will be supported by the same
FoxTelem software already released.

As with AO-92, a high-speed mode will be used to support the Virginia
Tech VGA camera experiment. This mode will be active for 40 minutes
by ground command before reverting to standard U/v repeater voice
operation.

Fox-1Cliff is named in honor of long-time AMSAT member, contributor,
and benefactor Cliff Buttschardt, K7RR (SK), who passed away in 2016.
Cliff?s contributions to AMSAT and other amateur satellite programs,
including serving as an adviser during the initial development of the
CubeSat specification at California Polytechnic State University,
earned him the Lifetime Achievement Award from Project OSCAR in 2006.

In addition to regular membership, AMSAT offers life memberships,
and sustaining donors to AMSAT Project Funds, will be eligible to
receive additional benefits. Application forms are available from
the AMSAT Office.

Primary and secondary school students are eligible for membership
at one-half the standard yearly rate. Post-secondary school students
enrolled in at least half time status shall be eligible for the student
rate for a maximum of 6 post-secondary years in this status.
Contact Martha at the AMSAT Office for additional student membership
information.

Hi Scott,

You're right about days of the week for operating modes, what confused me was
'telemetry transmission will be abruptly aborted when a voice
repeating operation starts'

Will be wise to expect more information from the designers, to know
operating schedules.

?

The information below is from the ARISS webpage:

?

International Space Station Astronauts are Calling CQ ARISS Students

??? ARISS-US program?s education proposal window open Oct. 1 - Nov. 30, 2018

?

September 25, 2018:? ARISS is seeking proposals beginning October 1, 2018
from US schools, museums, science centers and community youth organizations
(working individually or together) to host amateur radio contacts with an
orbiting crew member aboard the International Space Station (ISS) between
July 1 and December 30, 2019.

?

Each year, ARISS provides tens of thousands of students with learning
opportunities about space technologies, communications, and much more
through the exploration of Amateur Radio and space. ARISS has been pleased
of late, to be one of many possibilities of interest to educators during
NASA?s A Year of Education on Station, which celebrates an almost 12-month
presence of a teacher aboard the ISS.? The ARISS program connects students
to astronauts on the ISS through a partnership between NASA, the Radio
Amateur Satellite Corporation, the American Radio Relay League, other
Amateur Radio global organizations and the worldwide space agencies. The
program?s goal is to inspire students to pursue interests and careers in
science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and in Amateur Radio.

?

Educators report regularly that student participation in the ARISS program
stimulates interest in STEM subjects and STEM careers. One educator wrote,
?Many of the middle school students who took part in and attended the ARISS
contact have selected science courses in high school as a result of that
contact.?? Educators are setting up ham radio clubs in schools and learning
centers because of students? interest.

ARISS is looking for organizations that will draw large numbers of
participants and integrate the contact into a well-developed, exciting
education plan. Students can learn about satellite communications, wireless
technology, science research conducted on the ISS, radio science, and other
STEM subjects. Students learn to use Amateur Radio to talk directly to an
astronaut and ask their STEM-related questions. ARISS will help educational
organizations locate Amateur Radio groups who can assist with equipment for
a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for students.

?

The proposal window opens October 1, 2018 and the proposal deadline is
November 30, 2018.
