This could be either very good or very bad news. I talked with the Kenwood
rep at the Huntsville Hamfest in August, and as always asked about a
replacement for the TS-2000. It is a sort of running joke between us. This
year, his reply was "3 years, at least." He explained that due to changes
in the commercial radio world that Kenwood was allocating all its
engineering resources there for the immediate future. It will be
interesting to see whether this is just a temporary production pause, a
multiyear lapse in that part of the market, a change in plans, or ???

Maybe Yaesu will finally get the FT9700 in production. Something has held
it up for two years now.

I was listening to AO-91 today (11/10/18) around noon local time (1700
UTC). I was hearing well with my FT817 using an MFJ-1717 antenna. I
reach for Kenwood TH-F6 with its stock rubber ducky, and made a call.
To my surprise I heard my call on the return and another station
returned, I acknowledged hearing him . However, I noticed later that
my recorder wasn't running and I simply couldn't remember when I went
inside to write it down. Im afraid my biggest deficit is my memory not
my ears.

My apologies for my forgetfulness. I'm slowly getting my act back together.

I'm curious to know with whom I conversed, if anyone can confirm.

Bob,
?? I would wait and see how well the 9700 is received,? and if you
still decide to go with a 9100 you will probably save a ton buying a
used one from the people who upgrade and sell their 9100's.

Looking at the UK ICOM sites the radio is going to sell for about 2200.00
US. Will wait till see how it is discounted after FCC approves it.
