It was interesting that they ejected one of the battery packs to save
weight and fuel. I still get a thrill out of watching these, just like

watching the Mercury launches, that was only 10 years ago RIGHT?

Using an SDRPlay RSP2 with SDR Console V3, I was able to set up a multiple
sat receivers while leaving the decoders for FoxTLM DUV and Packet running
at the same time.

Since they are all FM in in the same general frequency range, , all I
needed to do was SQUELCH all the receivers at roughly the same squelch
point and let them run. Running them unsquelched (all putting noise into
the same rx channel of VBAudio at all times, did not work very well)

FoxTLM > VBAudio > SDRC v3 > 2m Eggbeater
(this captures tlm for AO-85/91/92 and uploads it automagically to the Fox
Server Leaderboard)
Receivers 1,2 and 3 are set to AO-85/91/92, respectively.

Direwolf > VBAudio > SDRC v3 > 2m Eggbeater
(All decoded packets on 145.825 are sent to APRS-IS automatically, so ISS
and PSAT are both covered.

I have this configuration saved as a Favourite in SDR Console v3, so all I
need do, it click on that Favourite and all 4 Rx come alive and output
whatever they hear to VBAudio and VBAudio feeds whatever decoding software
is running. (All can run at the same time, VBAudio doesn't seem to care)

It isn't perfect, but it works surprisingly well. Obviously, if there are
other sat downlink signals that open up the squelch of one of the other
receivers, it messes up the decoding, as it contributes noise to the common
audio channel.

This way, if I'm not going to be in the shack, I can click one button and
collect telemetry and packets all while when I'm gone.

Others with SDRs can figure out similar uses.

1. You can add/delete/edit any kep source you want in HRD. Open 'Satellite
definition' tab and click on 'Kepler' Data tab

Terry,
Thanks for the thoughts.
I "combed" thru the Keps. I did notice that AO-91 had a catalog # of
43015, not 43017. I corrected that. Still, no Joy. AO-92 is OK. AO-85 still
a problem, and AO-91 is still 30 minutes off.
It definitely is something with the Keps. HRD and SatPC32 use different
"element sets".
SatPC32 uses "nasa.txt", HRD uses "nasabare.txt and amateur.txt". I need to
figure out how to get "nasa.all" into HRD. And, one of the 2 element sets,
in HRD, is loading 3 keps entries for AO-91, each with different "catalog
numbers", as noted above.
Also, I have noticed with each "update" (many), the sat track gets slower
loading.
There is an "upcoming" update. I may try and "uninstall" HRD, reinstall
with a "fresh" copy.

Thanks again. Best from the "Florida Keys"

Yuri, UT1FG/MM is currently in Santos, Brzzil awaiting
his turn in port. Right now he expects to berth on 24December,
Christmas Eve. There are many ships waiting to go in and
he is far out from the harbor. He says his anchor is not holding
during the heavy seas and that causes them to drift into GG75.
They are waiting for calmer seas before moving back closer to
port.

Yuri is active on all of the birds and stations in South
America are working him on satellite. He has no idea where he
will go from Brazil. The ship is too wide to enter the locks in
the Great Lakes so that is one place he cannot go. Montreal
is a possibility, though. Ships name is the Goldeneye. Track him
on marinetraffic.com Once he starts traveling to other
grids, the QSL procedure will be set up, probably like before.

This could be either very good or very bad news. I talked with the Kenwood
rep at the Huntsville Hamfest in August, and as always asked about a
replacement for the TS-2000. It is a sort of running joke between us. This
year, his reply was "3 years, at least." He explained that due to changes
in the commercial radio world that Kenwood was allocating all its
engineering resources there for the immediate future. It will be
interesting to see whether this is just a temporary production pause, a
multiyear lapse in that part of the market, a change in plans, or ???

Nope. I was watching on line and missed the clue. I was ready to by another
(new) unit. Called the Anaheim store to ask about their remaining demo and
the guy said it has been a demo for 10 years...I passed on that one. There
are a few new ones out there (DXEnginnerring, HamCity, etc.) but they want
1300-1500+, which is absurd.

Ted,

Did Ham Radio Outlet report that there was a rush on remaining
inventory when the end of production was announced?

What would you expect to pay for a new-in-box unit?

I don't recall what these were selling for when still available new.
