With a limited setup and no circular polarization there is always the
chance that a sat is just in the wrong angle for me to decode and I take
that into account. Right now I compare with the the situation before the
anomalies started and it definitely seems "off". I do hear the 2-min
beacon transmissions, with the voice ID, but on the waterfall it is
clear that the signal is not strong enough to give a S/N ratio above the
level which I can decode. E.g. before S/N peaked at 7+ dB, now barely 3
dB and with fading not long enough to decode a DUW frame. HTH,

Heard unmodulated bursts about one second long about 2 minutes and 10
seconds apart on 145.900 during the pass starting about 0300 UTC.? The
direction roughly corresponded with elements 43766. That is, the last in
the train of objects in the catalog 18999 group.? It sounded unmodulated
and may have been sweeping in frequency across my receiver.? It was
clearly from one of the group of satellites; it started at about AOS of
that object and was not heard after LOS.? The signal was fairly strong.?
It had the feel of a transmitter gone bad or perhaps without enough
power to come fully on and stabilize.

Using a two Yagi EME array.

Hi Loren!

On the DK3WN status page ( http://www.dk3wn.info/p/?page_id=29535 ), Move-2
is listed with 12k5 BPSK modulation. I'm not familiar with a software
modem for that, but would love to get setup for it if anyone knows where it
can be found.

You're right that ITASAT is listed with 1k2 BPSK AX.25 modulation, so
you'll need the 1k2 BPSK version of UZ7HO's "SoundModem" from:

http://uz7.ho.ua/packetradio.htm

... in the "Other-Versions.zip" file download. Don't forget to use USB
demod in your playback and be sure to center the packet right in the middle
of your audio output -- and in the exact same spot that you have the
brackets set in the SoundModem app. For 1k2 BPSK, I normally output 3k of
audio bandwidth and adjust the RF tuning to center the packets right on the
1500 mark. Of course, you have to jump back slightly in your recording
while making small RF tuning adjustments so that the output audio is in the
"right" place.

Here's a tweet that I posted tonight regarding the playback of PW-Sat2
which also uses 1k2 BPSK. In the first screenshot on that tweet, you can
see how I'm doing that in HDSDR. (Never touch the audio output or
SoundModem settings... do all your adjustments on the RF tuning to center
the packet)

Thanks Jim for sharing your observations, the satellite sends out a beacon
"V" followed by the RTTY telemetry every minute.?

It had the feel of a transmitter gone bad or perhaps without enough
power to come fully on and stabilize.

I captured this, indoors, with a horizontal folded dipole and a FCDP+,
which is not the ideal setup. :-)

No captured frames and a lot of trash, of course. Still, fun to see!
