Dear All AMSAT members

My name is Tanan Rangseeprom my callsign HS1JAN. I am project manager of
JAISAT-1 satellite. I am very happy that Thailand, represented by King
Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUT-NB), has
successfully launched a Knacksat satellite from the SSO-A mission on
December 3, 2018.

The Knacksat team are very happy to learn that Mike Rupprechat, DK3WN had
been the first person to receive the CW signal, however, after that
satellite receive ground stations of KMUT-NB HS0AK and ground station of
RAST HS0AJ and AMSAT HS members in Thailand have tried to receive the CW
signal from the Knacksat satellite but we have not been able to receive any
transmission at all. Hence, I am asking for help from all AMSAT members by
asking them to please try to receive the CW signal and confirm this online
at the following website:

https://knacksat-26d23.firebaseapp.com/decoder

When you provide a signal report online, the Knacksat team will have a very
nice QSL card and gift to send in response to thank you for helping us by
receiving our signal. In addition, in the future when the satellite is
operational, the Knacksat team will be able to provide a packet radio
uplink on VHF so that the satellite can respond count number to you with
its callsign. So I would like to ask all AMSAT amateur radio operators to
please help us in this and to please send any data back to us online
website.

CW beacon: 435.635 MHz
comment please send to: knacksat@?????.???.

Hello Mati,

I've had good luck with the following simple preamp.

http://www.ham-radio.com/n6ca/50MHz/50appnotes/U310.html

I constructed it in an old box. Pictures are here:

http://www.n0zgo.net/lna/

I have not measured the NF, but the construction site claims 1dB.

Good luck!

Loren,

for ITASAT-1 (1k2 BPSK) use UZ7HO soundmodem
http://uz7.ho.ua/packetradio.htm   -> other-versions.zip
You can also use MixW or Warbler
http://members.casema.nl/b.ubbels/Warbler.htm

for MOVE-II (12k5 BPSK) see more information and decoder here:

Betreff: [amsat-bb] Decoding the new AX.25 packet satellites

I have several raw IQ captures from last few days with the new satellites
passing and am trying to decode the AX.25 packets from two of them. I'm
using SDRSharp to reply them and pull the signals out using USB mode. I've
already replayed them successfully and decoded both JY1-Sat and AO-95 using
their respective software packages, but I'm having trouble figuring out
ITASAT and MOVE-2. I'm using Virtual Audio Cable to loop back the audio and
UZ7HO Sound modem in an attempt to decode them. For ITASAT, it's set to 1200
bps BPSK and for MOVE-2, I'm using the 9600 baud variant of BPSK Sound modem
from his site. However, efforts have been fruitless to get it to resolve any
packets. Any pointers for these satellites would be appreciated.

With a lot of new TLE sets available, some new suggestions: for JY1Sat
now use object 43788 or 43759 (separation is less than 1 s), for ITASat 1
now use object 43787, and for MOVE-II now use object 43776.
For RANGE-A use object 43798, and for PWSat 2 now use object 43780.
Either MinXSS 2 or CSIM is object 43793.

I'm Having trouble with installing Fox Telem. I get errors related to
creating the directory structure and copying the files. However, the
directory structure is there as are the files.

I am running Windows 10 64 bit on an almost new HP PC. The program is in my
Documents folder and I tried the root of C with the same result.

Any help would be appreciated!

Greg,

It looks like the location is on your onedrive. If you are syncing the
files to the cloud then it could be locking them and preventing FoxTelem
from accessing them.

The displayed error message is from the operating system. Check if you can
edit the same file with a text editor.

I've had a lot of luck with the PGA-103 device for homebrew pre-amps
from Minicircuits, which works well for both VHF and UHF:
https://www.minicircuits.com/WebStore/dashboard.html?model=PGA-103%2B.
The only downside is if you buy just the chips from them, the minimum
order quantity is 20, at $1.99 a pop.? They also sell 'connectorized'
version in a small package with SMA connectors for around $50.00.? Main
features are 50 ohm input/output making impedance matching easy, sub 1.0
dB noise figure, high gain through UHF (greater than 20dB), and pretty
high OIP3 for good linearity in the presence of strong signals.

Inspired by prior work done by hams (including a paper by WA5VJB), I did
my own layout in Eagle CAD which can be found here:?
https://github.com/zleffke/eagle_pga103.? Main features on my version
are a built in 5V, low noise, regulator so that I can supply it with
standard 13.8V.? The regulator also has an enable/disable pin that I use
as a PTT control signal for TX/RX sequencing.

The form factor of the board was for a specific type of enclosure I
happened to have, so you may want to do your own layout, but the basic
schematic might be helpful to get you going (basically taken from
WA5VJB's paper, with slight tweaks).? For the filtering part, I was
targeting a specific chip level SAW filter for UHF applications, which
can by 'bypassed' (little jumper on the board in place of the filter
chip) for VHF applications (I have yet to find a SAW filter for VHF that
I like that's readily available on digikey/mouser).? You could toss out
my filtering chip piece and insert your own.? Minicircuits has detailed
S parameters on their page to get the matching part fine tuned (though
they do claim 50 Ohm impedance on both input/output across the range of
operation).

I haven't done any rigourous testing of the three prototypes I built
(impedance, gain, or Noise Figure measurements) yet, other than just
getting on the air with them.? They seem to perform well enough for me.

The github link might not be perfect for your application, but might be
a useful starting point for you.

Hope this helps, good luck!
