It got kind of unhappy when we turned it on and put itself back into safe
mode. We are considering what next, but nothing to announce. In the
meantime it is, well, safe.

Have the last days qso s made via AO-73 sat the rx goes from s 9 to 0
sometimes with a lot of QRM.
I think the sat turned around its axis faster than a few months ago.
Many stations have problems with QSO S via this sat.

Another question for a new setup.
I have had this TS2000 for many years and just getting things setup for a
new station.
I have been trying to get it working so it will track with the birds.
The computer and the radio do talk to each other, however they don't seem
to keep syn very well.
Has anyone else had similar issues?
If so what was the fix?

Now the other question is also, should I be looking at a different radio
for better responses and general operation of these modes for the birds and
the software.

I have had this radio for many years and have update the firmware to the
lastest that was listed on the Kenwood website as of this last week.
Getting that done took a little bit, had to get a old windows 7 box setup
along enough to upload the firmware.

So all in all is this a normal tracking issue with the Kenwood and Icom or
just with the Kenwood?

Thank you for you help.

This is still largely in the realm of science fiction, but I?ve been
fascinated by the concept of the US Naval Academy?s RSAT-P that launched
yesterday on NASA?s ELaNa CubeSat launch. It?s testing the ability for the
RSAT to inspect and repair other satellites in orbit. It will eventually be
maneuvered into position by a TUGSAT. The possibilities for at least an
inspection to help diagnose problems are intriguing!

I?m not sure if you received a private response but I have a similar issue.
I tried to use SatPC32 the other day and found many of the satellite
frequencies were not correct. I?m going to have manually edit a bunch of
them unless I can find someone with a good set of files.

Jim, I have been using my Kenwood 2000X with the birds since 2010 when I
bought it. Never had a problem staying with the birds and correcting the
Doppler shift automatically. When you say sync, do you mean moving antennas
or the Doppler shift? Are you using a decent USB converter to go between the
rear of your radio and the USB port on your computer? Many of those are
junk. There are several people using this radio on the birds. They also have
it move their antennas without a problem.

I am talking about the doppler. I am also using a older USB converter that
I have used for several years. Never had issues with this converter. 19hs
something. I am not able to get the number for it right now. If you want
to ser which one it is. Tripplite purchase the company several years ago
and they have it listed for support reasons.
I hope to get some more things figured out as time goes by. Just seems odd
that it does not track when changing to the correct info that is on screen
compared to the radio.

Agreed, severe QSB even with RHC rx antenna.
Also, I'm not rx anywhere near the number of TLM frames since the xponder
was turned on.

Noticed with AO-73 that it seems to be fading faster and having to use
the polarisation switch a bit more.

I've also noticed that on EO-88 and AO-73 a few seem to be using a bit
too much power on CW and it's using up quite a bit of the power
budget.

Suspect you're receiving less TLM frames as the beacon is using less
power think about 30mW rather than the 400mW you was seeing before
this is because the transponder is getting most of the power budget.

Good time to see if you can improve your RX setup for the weaker signal :)
